Deep Down: New Info And Screens

Deep Down remains one of the most anticipated PlayStation 4 exclusives on the horizon.

And Capcom has delivered a bit more information, including new screenshots and details. As summarized at DualShockers , there's fresh info and new artwork inspired by 15th century armor. Looks freakin' cool!

Players will access various dungeons by touching one of several stone statues in the game. They will appear in that dungeon equipped with the correct armor stored in the corresponding statue, and each suit of armor has different parts; arms and head, for instance. Furthermore, various combinations of those parts will give the character different skills, so get ready for some experimentation.

This is starting to remind me of Vagrant Story in terms of the medieval theme. It won't play the same way, of course, but it seems the similarities are there. We need more games with such a setting.

Deep Down Confirmed As Free-To-Play

Love it or hate it, you're going to be seeing a lot more of it in the next generation.

We've heard that Capcom's PlayStation 4 exclusive title, Deep Down , would be an "online RPG." We're still a little hazy on the details, but the publisher did confirm during the Tokyo Game Show that it will also adopt the popular free-to-play model.

This was confirmed by Sony Worldwide Studios boss Shuhei Yoshida on Twitter , and he added that the game will enter an open beta phase "near the launch of the PS4 in Japan." So, that would mean Japanese players will get a shot at Deep Down some time around February of 2014; no word on whether or not Western gamers will get it. Featuring Capcom's new Panta Rhei engine, Deep Down will boast procedurally generated dungeons and the setting is New York circa 2094. And yet, it still looks a lot like Dark Souls

What's your take on this being free-to-play? Me, my interest almost fell off the map when I heard it was an "online RPG;" now, my interest is off the map. But really, that's probably just me.

Deep Down An “Online RPG,” Not Guaranteed For US?

Capcom's Deep Down got a lot of attention when it turned heads during Sony's PlayStation Meeting in February.

The apparent action/RPG looked fantastic and appeared to be one of the best new titles for the PlayStation 4. New details have continued to emerge, and the latest tidbit is that the game isn't technically confirmed for North America yet. They're talking about it.

According to Forbes , Deep Down is dubbed an "online RPG" and Capcom is still "discussing" the possibility of bringing it to Western territories. We're all assuming it'll happen, of course, but we also assumed a Western launch was a foregone conclusion. When you assume, you make a… Right? As for it being a PS4 exclusive, that's another "for now" situation . In other words, yes, it's currently exclusive to the PS4, as Capcom boss Yoshinori Ono stated.

But a whole lot can change between now and the game's release. We've heard the promising title won't even be playable until E3 2014, so it's still a ways off. Oh well, not like there's a shortage of games.

Capcom: Deep Down Is Only On PS4

Originally showed off during the PlayStation Meeting in February, Capcom's Deep Down is very promising.

It has also been rumored that it will be exclusive to Sony's platform, although many have assumed the game will go multiplatform. Recently, Capcom boss Yoshinori Ono confirmed via Twitter that Deep Down is indeed only for PS4.

In response to a question, he said simply:

"Deep down on PS4. we dont have it for X1."

Of course, that doesn't mean that Deep Down won't eventually be available on the Xbox One. Capcom has a history of turning exclusives into multiplatform offerings, given enough time. Then again, don't forget that they've got Dead Rising 3 , which will release exclusively for Microsoft's next-gen system. So, maybe they get DR3 and we get Deep Down , which seems like a decent trade for PlayStation aficionados. Me, I'm not big into MMOs – which is what Deep Down sounds like – so I don't really care, but you never know… If it's good enough, I might play.

Capcom’s Deep Down Apparently An MMO, Only On PS4?

When the PlayStation 4 was first announced back in February, one of the most impressive upcoming games on display was Capcom's Deep Down .

At the time, we didn't know much about it. We just knew the debut trailer was unbelievably detailed and all sorts of promising. Now, we know a bit more…and those hoping for an epic single-player role-playing experience will be disappointed.

It actually sounds more like a next-gen Monster Hunter . The publisher held a presentation in Japan ; the "Capcom Network Games Conference," where they introduced a new lineup of online-only games that are in development. On the list was Deep Down , which is apparently an MMO as an Internet connection will be required. It will be playable at this year's Tokyo Game Show and the PS4 is the only confirmed platform. They've also opened up a teaser website and released a new trailer, which doesn't show much.

Well, I suddenly don't care about the game. But I'm sure a great many love the idea; going a-questing with friends ought to be mucho entertaining for the multiplayer fans out there.
