Love it or hate it, you're going to be seeing a lot more of it in the next generation.
We've heard that Capcom's PlayStation 4 exclusive title, Deep Down , would be an "online RPG." We're still a little hazy on the details, but the publisher did confirm during the Tokyo Game Show that it will also adopt the popular free-to-play model.
This was confirmed by Sony Worldwide Studios boss Shuhei Yoshida on Twitter , and he added that the game will enter an open beta phase "near the launch of the PS4 in Japan." So, that would mean Japanese players will get a shot at Deep Down some time around February of 2014; no word on whether or not Western gamers will get it. Featuring Capcom's new Panta Rhei engine, Deep Down will boast procedurally generated dungeons and the setting is New York circa 2094. And yet, it still looks a lot like Dark Souls …
What's your take on this being free-to-play? Me, my interest almost fell off the map when I heard it was an "online RPG;" now, my interest is off the map. But really, that's probably just me.
