Godfall Dev Working On Action Fantasy Shooter

Godfall

Godfall developer, Counterplay Games, is working on hiring a producer for their next game. In their job listing, the studio does mention some vague, but noticeable details about the project, giving us an insight on what the next production might be.

From the listing, we can infer that this upcoming game will be an action fantasy shooter and slated to be on the “next-gen console platform,” but we have a feeling they’re meaning the current-gen as this seems rather early in the console generation’s lifespan for Sony to be working on the PS6.

We also know this upcoming project will be more narrative-driven and focused on characters, quests, and lore. It will be heavily combat-focused, as well. To top it off, it seems this project will have RPG elements, considering Counterplay is looking for those with action RPG experience. It also notes that applicants must have third-person implementation experience, so it will likely follow in the footsteps of Godfall as a third-person adventure.

Godfall Will Require Constant Internet Connection

Godfall

We’re getting so close to the launch of the PS5 with only a month standing between fans and the potential to get their hands on the console. Of course, as with any console, we’ve got some exclusives hitting the console when it launches next month. Godfall is the best example of Sony’s next-gen flagship lineup. But, fans are noticing something that’s making them a bit worried. It requires an online connection even in a solo mode.

Even though Counterplay Games has put minds at ease by clarifying that it’s not a service game but does require internet to play, others are still not thrilled about it requiring internet access even if you aren’t playing with friends. It also – unsurprisingly – requires a PlayStation Plus subscription for online play, but that’s obvious if you’ve spent any time playing MMOs on consoles.

That said, the fact it needs internet to play shouldn’t surprise anyone since games like this tend to require internet access – for example, Destiny. Godfall is launching alongside the PS5 on November 12 or November 19 depending on your region.

Gearbox Reveals Godfall Teaser Featuring Silvermane

Godfall

Ahead of the now-postponed June 4 PS5 event, Gearbox Software released a new teaser featuring another godly character for their PS5 launch title, Godfall. The short video, which was only a small taste of what’s to come, lacked any new details aside from solidifying its platforms.

“Be lionhearted and ascend with Silvermane.”

This teaser was likely done to get people hyped for the event, which was only days away before being postponed. There’s no doubt Counterplay and Gearbox’s fantasy title was going be a part of this event, possibly with more than just a short 30 or so-second cinematic. It’s all but expected they’d play a role as it was the first game confirmed to be coming to the PS5.

Godfall is a PS5 exclusive, when it comes to consoles, taking place in a fantasy setting with three separate “valorplates” AKA character classes. The teaser doesn’t go into details about how Silvermane’s class will play, but we will probably see something before it releases alongside the PS5 this holiday season.
