Ghosts Needs Day-One PS4 Update To Run At 1080p HD

That day-one PlayStation 4 update is critical for a variety of important reasons.

And we just learned of another reason: According to what an Activision representative told Eurogamer , new PS4 owners will have to download the day-one patch in order for Call of Duty: Ghosts to run at a native 1080p resolution.

The update will allow the single-player adventure to run at the maximum high-definition resolution; the multiplayer element will run at 1080p right out of the box. So what's the deal? The Activision rep explained:

"There was a configuration issue in the retail version on single-player mode only. This has been addressed with a day one software update. People will be able to download the day one update when PlayStation 4 launches in their territory and play at native 1080p."

As we know by now, the Xbox One version of Ghosts will run at a native 720p, and it can be upscaled to 1080p. Sony has commented on the importance of the better resolution , saying that while their developers aren't "fixated" on the max HD resolution, it still makes for a better experience. And that makes perfect sense, wouldn't you say?
