Call Of Duty: Black Ops III Experiencing Server Issues

The servers for any Call of Duty game are usually pretty darn solid.

But users have been reporting connection problems with Call of Duty: Black Ops III and these issues haven't yet been completely fixed.

There has to be a lot of server activity this weekend, so perhaps that's tossing a wrench into the works. If you check the game's status page , the Xbox One and Xbox 360 versions are currently at "Defcon 3," which translates to: "ONLINE SERVICES ARE DEGRADED. USERS IN SOME REGIONS MAY EXPERIENCE CONNECTIVITY ISSUES." And while the PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 3 versions say the game is running at "Defcon 5," where "all online services are fully operational," many gamers – including myself – haven't been able to connect.

But it's not entirely unexpected. Like I said, there has to be a ton of traffic this weekend, so just be patient.

Analysis: Black Ops III PS4 Outperforms Xbox One Version

It seems most big multiplatform titles this generation fare better on Sony's console.

Earlier this week, a Digital Foundry analysis found that Fallout 4 performed better on PlayStation 4 . Now, they come to a similar conclusion for the recently released Call of Duty: Black Ops III .

Their latest technical analysis proves the PS4 version features better resolution and frame rate when compared to its Xbox One counterpart. While both systems could manage 1080p during cut-scenes, only PS4 maintained that native resolution during gameplay, while Xbox One dropped to 900p. Furthermore, the report finds that Microsoft's console rarely holds that 900p.

"The Xbox One release possesses a consistent blurry appearance when the action really kicks in: fine details are frequently smudged over, while geometry edges appear rough and fuzzy. It's a substantial downgrade over last year's Advanced Warfare, where Sledgehammer stayed locked at a 1360×1080 resolution during the more demanding scenes."

In terms of frame rate, both versions have difficulty maintaining the goal of 60 fps but PS4 once again has the advantage, albeit a slight one: Digital Foundry says the PS4 version averages 51fps while the Xbox One version comes in at 49fps. In general:

"Performance ranges from 40-55fps and seem highly variable in motion, leading to inconsistent controller response and a stutter to motion we don't usually associate with the series."

Call of Duty: Black Ops III is now available for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, PlayStation 3, Xbox 360 and PC.

PlayStation-Call Of Duty Partnership Is Officially “Historic”

There was a time when Call of Duty was kinda synonymous with the Xbox brand.

Every new CoD game was advertised on TV with that big Xbox logo and all downloadable content for each entry was exclusive (for a time) to Microsoft's platform.

But times have changed. All DLC for this week's Call of Duty: Black Ops III will actually enjoy timed exclusivity on PlayStation 4 and Sony is taking advantage of this new "historic" partnership. The company's marketing department is definitely running with it, and as boss Adam Boyes said:

"This is a historic partnership that makes PlayStation the best place to play Call of Duty. The massive reception to the game's multiplayer beta only a few months ago demonstrated the huge appetite our fans have for this franchise and the anticipation for Black Ops III. This is the game our fans want, and we're proud to welcome Call of Duty to its new home on PlayStation 4."

Yes, the multiplayer beta was exclusive to Sony's console and ended up being the biggest-ever beta test on PS4 . Previously, Boyes had confirmed that Sony's marketing team-up with Activision for last year's Destiny paved the way for this CoD deal. A few days ago, PlayStation UK marketing manager Lauren Bradley said more shooter fans are gravitating toward PS4 , and we've seen FPSs really come to prominence on Sony's consoles in the last few generations.

Call of Duty: Black Ops III launches today, November 6, for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, PlayStation 3, Xbox 360 and PC. The last-gen versions don't have the campaign, and if you pick up the Limited Edition PS4 bundle, you can be eligible to receive a full size Juggernog fridge .

Rumor: Black Ops 3 Bundle Coming With 1TB PlayStation 4

Many say the 500GB hard drive in the PlayStation 4 is too small.

Well, how's about double that size? And if you're planning to get the upcoming Call of Duty: Black Ops III , Amazon has the deal for you.

Neither Activision nor Sony has officially revealed this sweet bundle but there it is: You get a copy of Black Ops III and a 1TB PS4 for only $450, which is significant because U.S. players have never seen a 1TB PS4. Earlier in the summer, European and PAL gamers had the option of the Ultimate Player Edition (which was also lighter and more efficient), but that system never came out in North America.

Of course, you can upgrade your PS4 console on your own if you wish, but you can't get a new game and a 1TB hard drive for only $50, right? Might be worth considering if you're intent on this year's CoD, which is set to launch on November 6 for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, PlayStation 3, Xbox 360 and PC.
