“Special Move Peripheral” Coming For Bioshock Infinite

When Bioshock Infinite was announced, the developers said the game might support PlayStation Move, but nothing was confirmed.

Well, it might actually support Sony's motion control in a whole new way: according to a new Move article found at PlayStation.com (as cited by VideoGamer ), Sony is developing a "special peripheral" for Irrational's promising new project. As the article stated:

"A special PS Move peripheral is being produced that will draw you even deeper into this stunning vision of a parallel future."

We don't have any further information at this time, but we know Bioshock creator Ken Levine said Move would always be an option, never a requirement. As he said-

"Any experience that sits in the realm of motion play needs to be kept separate from the main experience. It needs to be firewalled off so that if this experiment isn't for you, or doesn't turn out to be all that great, you just ignore it."

What kind of "special Move peripheral" could we be looking at? Bioshock operates from the first-person view although it isn't really a first-person shooter. It's more like a first-person action/RPG…so it's tough to conceive of the peripheral's design.

Bioshock Infinite Cosplay: Elizabeth Has Sprung To Life

Not long after asking some cosplay questions , one of the freakiest examples of such costume wearing has surfaced.

Meet Elizabeth from Bioshock Infinite . …and then meet her again, after she has somehow managed to break the bars on her virtual prison and enter the world of the flesh-and-blood. This is actually more than a little unsettling; that chick is spot-on .

If you're wondering, it's cosplayer Ormeli, and you can check out her gallery if you like. There's another picture of her as Elizabeth; it's just zoomed out. Maybe the Infinite developers should sign her up and show her off at various events. If I were them, I'd be bragging about we'd mastered technology to the point where we can bring fictional characters to life.

Wouldn't that be a good idea, though? Cosplay has become so popular – and some of it is really good – so game makers could take advantage. Those who do this kind of thing are typically giant fans, and I'm sure they'd be happy to help plug a product (provided they got paid, of course). Professional cosplay PR peeps. …could attract attention.

Analyst: Bioshock Infinite Will Easily Outsell Bioshock 2

No matter how great a game is, disappointing sales are a killer.

But Irrational Games and publisher 2K shouldn't have to worry about Bioshock Infinite . Not only is it an established franchise and a recognizable name, but it's fully expected to be one of the best games of 2012. And on the strength of these factors – along with the ever-building hype – one analyst believes the hotly anticipated title could hit nearly 5 million units shipped. In a note to investors , Janco Partners' Mike Hickey believes the upcoming Bioshock entry will ship 4.9 million copies and generate $221 million in sales. For the record, Bioshock 2 shipped 3 million units (as of March 2010). We always like to see top-quality games draw the attention of so many gamers; here's hoping these estimates are accurate.

Not many multiplatform franchises can boast of such numbers; maybe Bioshock can enter the elite 5 million+ club. Current members include Call of Duty , Assassin's Creed , Battlefield , Grand Theft Auto , Gran Turismo , Final Fantasy …yeah, you get the picture. Big-time company right there.

Bioshock Infinite Developer: We Love The PS3 Platform

We've already heard one developer tell PlayStation 3 owners they needn't worry; that was when id Software said RAGE would be almost identical across all platforms.

And now, it's Irrational Games boss Ken Levine concerning the upcoming Bioshock Infinite . In speaking to the PlayStation Blog , Levine attempted to reassure PS3 owners by being firm and honest; in truth, his words are awfully encouraging, and we're inclined to believe him. He says they started the Infinite project knowing they'd be on the PS3, so forget about a shoddy port. Furthermore:

"Look, I’m not blowing smoke here. We were Xbox-first for the original game, and now we have something to demonstrate to the PlayStation 3 audience. We love the platform. I have three PS3s at my house. It’s a great game system and I love the kinds of games that are coming out on PSN."

Levine also talked about the possibility of 3D for his game; the feature isn't confirmed and he wants to make sure he isn't just "checking a box." In other words, he doesn't want to do it just 'cuz a lot of other games do it. But we're impressed by Levine's explanation concerning Bioshock on Sony's platform; the guy is charismatic and very candid, and we're perfectly willing to take his word for it.

Bioshock Infinite: 14 Minutes Of Achingly Great Gameplay

Bioshock Infinite won all sorts of awards at E3. But do you know why ?

It's because most journalists and attendees saw the following footage, which emerged on GameTrailers TV last night. You may have seen snippets of the story and gameplay already, but if you watch this complete 20-minute presentation, you'll better understand why this game is getting so much attention. Hell, we want it more than any other title besides Uncharted 3: Drake's Deception .

That first segment right there is enough to keep our anticipation level pegged sky-high. There's just so much to look forward to; everything from the atmosphere to the story to the gameplay is just so beautiful and compelling. We almost wish it was coming out this year…well, almost. We sort of prefer that it'll get some room to breathe after the holidays.

Bioshock Infinite Scores Big In The E3 Game Critics Awards

A whole lot of fantastic games enjoyed great showings at E3 2011, and the results are in for the annual E3 Game Critics Awards.

When we saw the nominations , we weren't exactly surprised. Uncharted 3: Drake's Deception , Bioshock Infinite , Batman: Arkham City , The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim , Battlefield 3 , and the surprising Tomb Raider raked in most of the nods. And as it turns out, Irrational's hugely promising new entry in the Bioshock franchise has earned top honors:

If you check the official website , you'll see that Bioshock Infinite won Best of Show, Best Original Game, Best PC Game, and Best Action/Adventure Game. That sweeps away the competition; Uncharted 3 didn't win anything, which we have to disagree with, but Naughty Dog will have the last laugh come November. Also, the PlayStation Vita earned the Best Hardware award, which should excite the portable aficionados.

One thing to note, though- Bioshock Infinite doesn't come out until next year, so it has no chance of taking home any end-of-2011 honors. We still want it, though…really badly.
