As promised, developer DICE has delivered news on a brand new multiplayer mode for the upcoming Star Wars: Battlefront .
It's called Blast and it's basically a version of the traditional Team Deathmatch.
Teams of Rebel and Imperial factions will face each other in matches that continue until one team racks up 100 kills, or 10 minutes elapses. We'll be fighting on different planets, including Endor, Hoth, Tatooine and Sullust, and the maps won't be super huge because Blast is a close-quarters mode.
As lead designer Dennis Brännvall said on a post on the game's official site :
"Say you've just played Walker Assault mode on Hoth and then switched to Blast, still on Hoth–thanks to variations in lighting and time of day, you'll definitely see a difference."
Blast will not play host to vehicles or special hero or villain characters. However, the frenetic pace of the mode should make up for any such deficiencies.
