Big Day One Patch For Just Cause 3 Has Some Comedic Bits

Day One patches aren't exactly uncommon. And as far as I can tell, when it comes to open-world adventures, they're downright necessary.

The highly anticipated Just Cause 3 finally drops on December 1 and with it comes a hefty 2.8GB patch.

You can find the full Patch 1.01 notes here ; there are various fixes and improvements, some gameplay bug fixes, and graphical optimizations. The first set of improvements offers the most entertainment value; here are a couple examples:

— The Medician Department of Nature Conservation has pored over every inch of our beautiful island for cracks and removed them.

— The Medician Department of Motor Vehicles has taken measures to acquire poorly-tuned vehicles and burn them.

— The DRM has been given a refresher course in combat and spatial awareness as per the General’s recent mandate.

— The Medician Department of Infrastructure has made some adjustments to certain roads to prevent traffic jams.

If you're not familiar with this franchise, you should know the tone of those "fixes" fits in perfectly. And if you're interested in the outrageous craziness, you can check out the latest dev diary and that kick-ass CG trailer .

Avalanche: No Multiplayer For Mad Max

As we always say, some games don't need multiplayer. In fact, some of the best games in recent memory didn't boast a multiplayer component.

As an example for the future, Eidos Montreal's Thief will be single-player-only, as the developer has said they're focusing entirely on delivering a memorable campaign. Gotta respect that, especially 'cuz it's Thief . Now, another game maker is saying basically the same thing.

It's Avalanche Studios, who told GameSpot that their upcoming Mad Max game will not boast any multiplayer. Said creative director Frank Rooke:

"There's no multiplayer at the time. It's a very strong single-player experience and of course Max is a loner and we're really focusing on that aspect of Max."

We didn't see any gameplay during the E3 unveiling trailer, but we know it's a third-person action/adventure set in a post-apocalyptic world. There's even some car combat, as we understand it. In that way, the game's description sorta reminds us of RAGE , only with probably a lot more freedom. And for all you young'uns who aren't aware, the game is based on the old "Mad Max" movies with Mel Gibson.

The long-awaited game is in development for the PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC, and it'll be ready to go some time in 2014.
