Devs Offer A Slew Of Attack On Titan Info

At the end of November, an enticing new Japanese action game was announced .

We didn't get a ton of specific details at the time but now, the bosses behind Attack on Titan aren't shy about sharing.

In a recent Famitsu interview (as translated by DualShockers ), Producer Hisashi Koinuma and Director Tomoyuki Kitamura spoke at length about some of the title's finer points. Click through the link to see them all; here are a few of of the highlights:

— Missions have set victory conditions.

— Gameplay promotes combat while moving through the level. Along the way, the player will encounter secondary “sub-mission” objectives.

— While the main purpose is fighting the Titans, there are also situations in which the player will have to rescue an ally. There are also hidden missions within the levels, and looking for those secret elements is part of the fun.

— It’s possible to fight in a group of up to four players, giving instructions to AI companions. It’s important to fight as a group, as it’s easy to die when fighting alone.

— Since the game follows the story of the anime/manga, it would be a problem if specific characters were missing. Those defeated in battle will be “withdrawn.” They won’t respawn during the same mission, but will return in the next.

— The sense of speed of the anime has been reproduced inn the game. Initially there was a problem that caused spatial sickness die to all the rapid movement of the camera, but it has been solved.

— Different characters have different special attacks like continuous attacks or rotation attacks.

This should give you a great idea of what to expect when Attack on Titan launches in 2016; it'll be available for PlayStation 4, PlayStation 3 and Vita. And if you haven't checked out some gameplay footage, here you go:

Koei Tecmo Shows Off New Footage Of Attack On Titan Game

Looks like your standard over-the-top balls-to-the-wall Japanese action extravaganza.

A new trailer for Koei Tecmo's upcoming Attack on Titan has popped up online and it does feature some snippets of crazy gameplay.

You won't be surprised to learn the game is being co-developed with Dynasty Warriors studio Omega Force; there's clearly some DW influence in here. Also, you might be a fan of the "Attack on Titan" anime, so perhaps you're more familiar with the concept. In the video, characters like Eren Yeager go flying through the air using the Maneuver Gear to take on massive Titans.

Based on what we know about the gameplay, it also seems we'll have a Dynasty Warriors -like structure, as we'll move through larger areas and attempt to secure checkpoints. Last month, Koei Tecmo president Hisashi Koinuma said:

"Having evolved from a manga/anime series to an internationally recognized brand, we were enchanted by the opportunity to create our own take on humanity's last stand against these overwhelmingly powerful beings, the Titans. Our studios are already pouring all of their passion and excitement into it and we hope to reveal more information soon!"

Attack on Titan is scheduled for all PlayStation platforms; PS4, PS3 and Vita.
