Former Arkane Staff Reveals Weird West Release Date

Weird West

WolfEye Studios, a development studio comprised of several former Arkane Studios members that worked on big hitters like Dishonored and Prey, have confirmed that its premiere game, Weird West, is coming to PlayStation consoles early next year.

While the studio has kept it hush-hush about when fans would get to take the journey through the wild west, a recent overview of the title has finally answered the question of when and giving fans a deeper look into what exactly this wild west sim is looking to accomplish.

The decently short two-minute overview gave fans a better explanation about what the studio is looking to bring to the table, including how anything that seems interactable is. For example, a dead body can be carried and buried, kicking items and setting said items on fire is possible, and plopping things in your inventory is a must for this type of game.

This isn’t just a short indie game, rather it holds about 40 hours of content with perks and upgrades you can acquire and a seemingly vast world for the player to explore while moving along the five different stories.

WolfEye has set sights for Weird West releasing on January 11, 2022 to the PS4.

Deathloop Finally Goes Gold After Delay

Deathloop

Amid several delays, Dishonored developer Arkane Studios’ timed PS5 exclusive, Deathloop, has gone gold. According to the developer, the game is set to release mid-way through next month.

Announced during E3 2019 and built upon during The Future of Gaming event, Deathloop brought in a rather interesting time loop-centered story of Colt striving to off a bunch of rich people who took refuge on an island resort to indulge themselves in anything they could without any sort of consequences for their action. Even murder is on the table and what’s more you’re being hunted by another assassin.

The timed-exclusivity announcement was made before Microsoft acquiring ZeniMax and all its subsidiaries. While many pointed that out, Microsoft assured eager fans that the timed-exclusivity would remain. In turn, by September 2022, the game would release on other platforms.

Initially, the game was meant to launch alongside the PS5 but due to the pandemic, they shifted the release date from August 2020 to May 2021. Due to not wanting to crunch members of the team, though, Arkane once again delayed it a mere month before it hit store shelves. Now, we’re here and the game’s gone gold.

Deathloop is launching to the PS5 on September 14 exclusively on the PS5.

Deathloop Delayed Again Only One Month From Release

Deathloop

The upcoming PS5 timed-exclusive, Deathloop, has been subject to yet another delay. Announced over on Twitter, Arkane Studios dropped the news in a short post accompanied by a video.

The studio wants to provide the best possible experience and believes they aren’t there yet.

The game was initially set to hit the PS5 in August 2020, but due to the pandemic, they decided to release the game in Q2 2021, which was revealed to be May 21, 2021. However, here we are with a new date set of September 14, 2021.

What do you think? Are you disappointed that Deathloop’s been delayed again?

Deathloop Announced For PS5 This Holiday Season

Deathloop

Something new is coming out of Bethesda and Arkane Studios, under the Arkane Lyon branding, best known for their work on the Dishonored franchise. Labeled Deathloop, we got a lengthy three-minute trailer showing off some gameplay and telling a bit of the story during The Future of Gaming.

The game, which puts you in the shoes of Colt, an assassin stuck in a time loop, tasked with eliminating eight targets. The trouble is, you have only one life to do it. Eliminating all eight targets won’t be so easy, though, many of Blackreef’s inhabitants have put you on their hit list.

The generic inhabitants aren’t all you have to deal with, either. Rival assassin, Julianna, may put a damper on your plans, too. While AIs can be tricked, this one will be a bit trickier as you might be playing against another player, if you so choose. Julianna’s goal is to protect the loop and put a stop to Colt before he can break the loop.

According to the PlayStation Blog, Arkane’s vision for Deathloop is to blur the lines between single-player and multiplayer experiences, making something wholly unique. There is no solid release date at this time, we just know it will be coming this holiday season to the PS5.

Bethesda Hugely Disappointed With The Progress Of Prey 2

The problem with Prey 2 ? It's just "not good enough."

Recent reports have stated the development has passed from former developer Human Head to Arkane Studios ( Dishonored ). And in speaking with IGN , Bethesda vice president of marketing Pete Hines explains that they've been very unhappy with the progress of the sequel.

Basically, he assures us that regardless of how disappointed we may be, it isn't a patch on how disappointed the publisher is right now. They're not satisfied at all :

"We appreciate that folks are displeased that we haven't had any update or any info on Prey 2, but whatever your displeasure is, you can't even be remotely as unhappy about it as us. We spent years and millions of dollars and a ton of effort trying to help Human Head make a great Prey 2 game. What we said the last time we said anything was that it's not up to our quality standards.

It's simply not good enough. We're not going to just proceed blindly with something that isn't good enough. We spent a lot of time and money and effort trying to make this thing happen and support folks, but at the same time, you just can’t keep throwing money at it and saying, 'sure, it’ll eventually work.' You have to have the discipline to say, ‘it’s not good enough. It’s not hitting the quality bar. Why isn't it? We’ve been at this for a while, and what we have is not what we talked about.’ So that’s where we are."

That "quality bar" of which he speaks continues to rise with every passing year. And if you're not at least reaching that bar on a routine basis, you could find yourself in very serious trouble in this industry. We know Bethesda only wants to produce games of the utmost quality and if they say Prey 2 isn't ready, we'll take their word for it. We can be patient, right?

Okay, Dishonored Needs To Sell More Over The Holidays

I suppose about a half-million sales isn't bad for a new IP, but Dishonored deserves a much higher number.

In the past, high critical praise – which is precisely what the masterpiece from Arkane Studios received – has managed to push sales numbers higher and higher over an extended period of time. It's not necessarily like a hotly anticipated, easily recognized franchise title, which hits huge right out of the gate because a great many just don't care about reviews. New IPs depend much more heavily on scores and general acclaim, so I'm hoping that such good word of mouth allows Dishonored to have a great holiday season.

It's a little strange that it hasn't sold more, though. On the one hand, you have to almost expect it from an industry that has become increasingly reliant on big-name franchises. On the other hand, the game was relatively well promoted, it was the topic of many discussions in forums and on message boards, and it was frequently featured in major headlines throughout most of 2012. I suppose the fact that it launched only one week after Resident Evil 6 might have hurt it; RE6 is one of those games that was destined to sell regardless of review scores, and so it did. So maybe Dishonored got pushed aside, especially if some savvy gamers were saving their money for the fall blitz.

I just hope Dishonored at least hits a million at some point. It would be quite unjust if it didn't.
