New Free Deathloop Update Adds Photo Mode And More

Deathloop

Arkane Lyon‘s time-based stealth — or guns-blazing — action-adventure, Deathloop, got its third update and with this new one comes some nifty features. This time around this is more of a “for the community” update with its prized addition being a photo mode accessed through the pause menu.

You can change angles, filters, poses and more all in the mode, which pauses your game for you. You can also on-the-fly swap between Colt and Julianna if you think a photo fits one character over the other.

Aside from the photo mode, Arkane Lyon took to heart some of the complaints found and placed more in terms of accessibility. Players can now alter the combat difficulty, change subtitle sizes, and the text’s opacity. They’re also making their menu easier to navigate.

Finally with this free update, they’ve included new Deathloop PlayStation avatars for a limited time. Here’s the codes.

Arkane Lyon Studio Head Leaves After 17 Years

Arkane Lyon

Most recently known for the Dishonored franchise and most recently, Deathloop, Arkane Lyon is a favorite for fans of Dishonored and the Prey remake. Even considering this, former studio head Romuald Capron has made the difficult decision to step down and leave the studio as he felt “the need to try something new.” He made the announcement via his LinkedIn account where other industry veterans shared their excitement.

He leaves the studio in good hands considering the success of Deathloop’s release for PS5 and PC this past September. This news comes seven months after Arkane’s parent company, ZeniMax Media, was purchased by Microsoft. Even considering this, there is no evidence that the acquisition influenced his decision after 17 years with the studio.

Deathloop Announced For PS5 This Holiday Season

Deathloop

Something new is coming out of Bethesda and Arkane Studios, under the Arkane Lyon branding, best known for their work on the Dishonored franchise. Labeled Deathloop, we got a lengthy three-minute trailer showing off some gameplay and telling a bit of the story during The Future of Gaming.

The game, which puts you in the shoes of Colt, an assassin stuck in a time loop, tasked with eliminating eight targets. The trouble is, you have only one life to do it. Eliminating all eight targets won’t be so easy, though, many of Blackreef’s inhabitants have put you on their hit list.

The generic inhabitants aren’t all you have to deal with, either. Rival assassin, Julianna, may put a damper on your plans, too. While AIs can be tricked, this one will be a bit trickier as you might be playing against another player, if you so choose. Julianna’s goal is to protect the loop and put a stop to Colt before he can break the loop.

According to the PlayStation Blog, Arkane’s vision for Deathloop is to blur the lines between single-player and multiplayer experiences, making something wholly unique. There is no solid release date at this time, we just know it will be coming this holiday season to the PS5.
