MotorStorm: Apocalypse Receives Mammoth Update

Yeah, there isn't much to play right now. But you know, a whole lot of great games came out earlier this year.

One of them is MotorStorm: Apocalypse , which is a white-knuckle ride through a crumbling metropolis. Despite its flaws, it's still oodles of fun, and the developers have just released a huge update .

First up is the opportunity to design your own game modes via the Mode Editor. You can tweak the regular Race mode so that vehicle attacks are disabled, set the number and type of vehicles per event, and in general, just customize to your heart's content. Furthermore, you can customize your favorite vehicle and share it with your buddies through MotorStorm.com .

They even went and added compatibility for various steering wheels and the PlayStation Move. They'll have "customizable configurability options," too," so you won't be forced into an uncomfortable control mechanic. Here's a testimonial from SCEA producer Daimion Pinnock:

"I’ve been lucky enough to experience the game using a Logitech G27 force feedback wheel, on a 3DTV with surround sound set-up, and I can honestly say it’s the most exhilarating gaming experience I’ve ever had. Pumping the accelerator and gripping the wheel as you drift your muscle car through a tight city corner at break neck speeds feels incredible, and when an apocalyptic earthquake aftershocks kick in and tears open the ground beneath your wheels – while you’re trying to avoid gangs of crazy looters and rivals throwing their weight around in monster trucks – it ups the ante even more. If you can, you absolutely must experience MotorStorm Apocalypse like this. Words just don’t do it justice."

Strong words, no? Lastly, they've amped up the online multiplayer experience; we now have new clan tags, and changes to gambling and lobby privacy. As always, you can check out the official site (linked above) to see what's new in the world of MotorStorm . You should give it a try if you haven't just yet.
