Amazon is going to do well with these new console launches.
The mega online retailer has announced that the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One are already breaking records. Amazon says the company is working hard to prepare its fulfillment centers for "unprecedented demand" for the systems, and they've got good reason to anticipate that extremely high demand.
If Amazon were to combine pre-order sales of the PS4 and Xbox One, it would comprise "the largest product release in Amazon history" (excluding Kindles). They retailer says that's pretty darn impressive considering that the PS4 costs $400 and the Xbox One is priced at $500. Amazon also revealed that pre-orders for day-one version of the two consoles were nearly two times that of all total game sales of Black Friday 2012. Unfortunately, they didn't give us any exact numbers.
Got yours coming from Amazon? It'd be a good way to avoid the launch day insanity at your local brick-and-mortar retailer.
