Agent Artwork Surfaces, GTAV May Have Sidelined Project

It was first announced as an ambitious new PlayStation 3 exclusive from Rockstar way back in 2009.

Since then, however, we've heard very little of the game called Agent . Nobody really knows if it'll ever land on store shelves, but one of the game's artists has produced some screenshots of his artwork for the title.

Environment Artist Darren Hatton's online portfolio (as spotted by the IB Times ) includes samples of the possibly now-defunct project. Hatton's experience extends to IPs like Bioshock and Borderlands , by the way, and he worked on Agent for one year between June 2009 and 2010. As he says:

"These are samples of the environment artwork I took ownership of during my time on yet to be published game called Agent. Not sure if this project will ever be published but it was first announced by Sony at E3 in 2009. The art team were taken off this project to focus on GTA 5."

Perhaps Rockstar's focus on Grand Theft Auto V caused Agent to slip to the back burner and the game just never got back into the development rotation. If true, as great as GTAV turned out to be, this would be a disappointment. Then again, maybe something else happened to sideline Agent and various team members were then moved to other projects. Who knows?

But as it stands now, Agent could be vaporware.
