Aspyr Announces Star Wars Episode 1: Jedi Power Battles Re-Release

A new Star Wars game announcement has been made that’s a surprise to be sure, but a welcome one, especially for fans who grew up with this on title on PS1, Dreamcast, or GameBoy Advance.

Aspyr Media, known for recent Star Wars re-releases including the Battlefront Classic Collection and Bounty Hunter, is helping to celebrate the 25-year anniversary of Star Wars Episode 1: Jedi Power Battles. The game was released way back in 2000 as a movie tie-in for 1999’s Star Wars Episode 1: The Phantom Menace. However, it became somewhat obscure following not-so stellar reviews of the time (according to ComicBook).

Jedi Power Battles is a side-scroller where players wield the Force and play between Jedi Knights Mace Windu, Obi-Wan Kenobi, Qui-Gon Jinn, Plo Koon, and Adi Gallia (as well as Captain Panaka and Queen Amidala) as the Prequel icons battle through waves of the Trade Federation’s Droid Army. Various locations from The Phantom Menace are featured, including the Trade Federation Battleship.

Aspyr has made a number of improvements and expansions to the 2000 LucasArts game such as tweaking the overall gameplay, adding a modern control scheme, and the option to switch the lightsaber blade colors of the Jedi to match their canon movie appearances. Additionally, in-game secrets have been unlocked from the get go, couch co-op is making a return, and 13 unlockable new characters have been added by Aspyr.

By the will of the Force, Jedi Power Battles arrives on Thursday January 23, 2025 for PS4/PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, Nintendo Switch, and PC. It currently has a list price on the PlayStation Store of $19.99 or $17.99 for PS+ subscribers.

LittleBigPlanet 3 Is Getting Delisted This Month

Arguably, one of Sony’s most important games within the PS3 era is getting delisted. Sumo Digital LittleBigPlanet 3, the well-known PS3 and PS4-era adventure, is going offline at the end of the month.

Taking to Twitter, the dev revealed that the game is closing its online servers, with only existing players able to access the content. Of course, this does extend to its DLCs and across all regions.

It’s not too surprising considering the onslaught of hackers and attacks the game has faced over the last few years, even leading to the game’s servers shutting down earlier in the year indefinitely.

LittleBigPlanet 3 shuts down on October 31.

Epic Games Store Delists Horizon Zero Dawn

This month sees the release of the upcoming Horizon Zero Dawn Remaster for PS5 and PC, leading to an older version of the game getting pulled from the digital storefronts.

Considering the remaster will be hitting physical and digital store shelves on October 31, the Epic Games Store has already delisted the PC port (as reported by VGC). When additionally checking out the Steam listing, it too has been rendered unavailable for purchase. Viewers are instead encouraged to buy a bundle for both the Zero Dawn Remaster and Forbidden West.

In addition to VGC’s speculation that the EGS delisting was made to avoid gamers exceeding the $49.99 price by paying the $9.99 upgrade, fans may recall Sony doubling the $19.99 price of Zero Dawn. This was done a few days after the September State of Play event. However, what is the original game’s listing when viewed on the PlayStation Store?

Heading over to Zero Dawn’s listing on the PS4’s PS Store, the Complete Edition is still available for purchase. Have a look below:

The game is not available for purchase through the PS5’s PS Store despite being among the majority of PS4 games backwards compatible on PS5. On a final curious note, Zero Dawn appears to still be available for purchase on the PS Store’s desktop site. Zero Dawn was a PS4 exclusive back in 2017, with the PC port available on Steam and the EGS since 2020.

What do you think? Is the game’s delisting an expected move ahead of the remaster’s launch, or do you find the removal unjustified? Let us know below!

Sony Raises Horizon Zero Dawn Price Ahead Of PS5 Remaster

Sony has been caught red-handed raising the price of Horizon Zero Dawn: Complete Edition ahead of the PS5 remaster. The game has spiked in price from $19.99 to $39.99.

Eurogamer spotted this price rise and pointed out that Sony is offering existing players to spend $9.99 in order to upgrade to the PS5 version, which will retail at $49.99. Obviously, this is to curb people from buying the cheaper edition to then turn around and pay a small fee to get the game at a $10 discount.

The $19.99 price tag attached to Horizon Zero Dawn has been in place for years as the game’s a part of their PlayStation Hits collection.

Secret Agent Clank Coming Soon To PS Plus Catalog

A band of 13 games are coming soon to the PS Plus Catalog, and one title among them is a spy twist to a classic PlayStation 2 era platformer.

Released on the PSP all the way back in 2008, Secret Agent Clank will be arriving on PS Plus next week on Tuesday September 17 (via the PlayStation Blog). The premise of this Ratchet & Clank spinoff game is that the titular duo are also cast members of a fictional television (or rather, holovision) spy series. The duo’s day is soured however, after Ratchet is falsely jailed for being the alleged thief of a valuable museum gem. It is up to Agent Clank to help clear his friend’s name and uncover the real perpetrator of the museum gem theft.

Other additions to the PS Plus Catalog include: (but not limited to) Mister Mosquito, Sky Gunner, Far Cry 5, Wild Card Football, Night in the Woods, Ben 10, and Space Engineers. Pistol Whip is the only incoming title for PSVR 2, while most of the new additions will be available for both PS4 and PS5.

Days Gone Director Unhappy With Astro Bot Cameo

As you may expect, Astro Bot contains Days Gone cameos, including a bot donning Deacon St John’s outfit. Unfortunately, this just didn’t sit right with former Bend Studio vet, John Garvin.

Taking to Twitter, Garvin, the same vet who bashed gamers for waiting for sales to buy the game, expressed his dissatisfaction with Deacon being “reduced to promoting other games” before trashing the studio. Of course, he’s become kind of known for his harshness toward people who disagree with him and his bluntness.

In a separate post, he brandished Astro Bot as a “small game,” despite what looks to be a large part of Sony’s marketing department backing the game. While we can understand his frustration, calling this a “cartoon schill” is a crazy thing before then telling people who think he’s overreacting to “sit down” and that “adults are talking.”
