There were several top-notch trailers shown off during the 2013 Spike VGX Awards. Here are a few of our favorites.

The first is a sneak peek at some gameplay for The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt , which could end up being one of the most advanced open-world games ever seen. To learn more about its potential, check out our in-depth preview if you haven't yet.

We don't get a lot of gameplay, but what we see is wicked impressive, and it gives us an idea of the game's immense size and scope. It makes us want to step out into the wilderness and become a legendary hero…like now.

Then comes what is arguably our most anticipated next-gen title, the Thief reboot. A new story trailer appeared at the VGX Awards and it suggests that in addition to captivating stealth gameplay, Thief will also feature a compelling narrative. It's nice to have some background and incentive before we attempt to steal something that is virtually un-stealable. And remember, we previewed this one as well.

Dying Light has all sorts of promise, as it blends good old-fashioned zombie hunting with an intense first-person view, a dose of free-running mechanics ala Mirror's Edge , and an intriguing day/night cycle that greatly affects the gameplay. During the VGX show, the Dead Island developer showed off plenty of footage, and it's right here. If the mechanics are right (and that's critical), this could be awesome!

South Park: The Stick of Truth has been delayed several times, but don't sleep on this one. In terms of fun factor, this could end up being an elite title. Fans of the show will love the hilarious VGX trailer!

Lastly, we just have to acknowledge Tim Schafer and Double Fine's new project, Broken Age . They've got some serious star talent for this title, including Elijah Wood as the voice of the main character. Anything Schafer does deserves the attention (and ultimately, the appreciation) of any avid gamer; he has produced some of the most wonderfully original games in history. And Broken Age looks to continue that trend of unique goodness.

Kinda wish I didn't have to control that big beefy dude, but other than that Witcher 3 should be pretty great.

It would definitely mean alot more if we had gotten 1 and 2. Man I wish they never cancelled that project for w1 way back.

Why was the ps3 so damn frustrating to develop for?

Wow, Broken Age looks really fun. I think I would enjoy the crap out of that game.

The genre of game I am most anticipating on PS4 is an RPG style game, whether it be western or not. Me thinks Witcher 3 will be that game. Looks epic.

Wish they showed some actual gameplay of the Witcher 3. I saw some off screen gameplay of it awhile back, and even recorded on a phone u could tell its graphics are insane! Aside from that, No Mans Sky, more South Park: SoT, it was z really lame VGA, I blame Geoff for over hyping as usual. I really wanted some Uncharted gameplay if nothing else.. Oh well.

kinda disappointed with the VGAs.
there was not one wow announcement, i mean yea we got a GoT game and a borderlands game, and hello games new game, but there all pretty eh.
wheres 2013s version of ND coming out and blowing everyone away with TLoU?
as usual, the industry hypes something up as the second coming, and its nothing worth hyping.
hell even the ninty announcement, ZOMFG NINTYS ANNOUNCING A NEW GAME ZOMFG!!!!!!!
and it turns out to not be a new game, just a new character for a already announced game, which is a port of a old 3DS game BTW.
so exciting!!!!!!!!!
same goes for titanfall, ZOMFG vince is going to announce some new stuff for titanfall ZOMFG!!!!!!
aaaaaaaand, it turns out to be 2 new mech classes.
no new gameplay footage, new maps, nothing really worth hyping up.
even quantum break, i was sitting there oh awesome were FINALLY going to get to see a live demo of the game.
nope, just 10 seconds of gameplay split up in sequences, shoehorned into trailers they showed at E3.
sigh.
nothing from $ony either, everyone used the teaser trailers from ND at the ps4 launch, used the excuse eh thats just because there waiting to blow the lid off at VGAs.
………… well???????????
at this rate were NEVER going to hear about the DLC, one day will wake up and they will be kind enough to say oh BTW the DLCs live in 4 hours.
nice they give us a little headroom………

and to make things worse, not only did we get a lack of surprises, but there was not really any gameplay footage shown either.
i expected live gameplay demos of all the games, not just more pre recorded footage and trailers!
tomb raider perfect example, its due out in a months time, so how about you actually show us the improvements made over the past year?

1. Your comments would be a lot easier to read if you were concise.

2. You seem to have high expectations and there's nothing wrong with that, but if the past is proof what's likely to come then you should prep yourself for that.
