The Last Guardian is supposedly still in development, but one has to assume that Sony's focus has shifted to the PlayStation 4.
The game isn't close to releasing and to launch a high-profile exclusive for an old console makes zero sense. I suppose there's a chance it will arrive for both the PS3 and PS4 but you know, I doubt it. I think it'll be exclusive to the new system.
And if that's the case, if Sony has been planning to bring it to the PS4 ever since development started to slow down, might we see Guardian for the 2014 holiday season? Isn't that entirely possible? It's concerning that we haven't heard much in the way of actual status updates, and one could assume that the game is still years away. However, what if you were in a position to launch not one, but two massive exclusive titles to celebrate the one-year anniversary of your new console? Just in time for the holidays? Wouldn't you be all over that?
What if both Uncharted 4 and The Last Guardian launched in the Oct-Dec release window? If both ended up being the masterpieces we all expect them to be, that could result in a very good holiday season for Sony. Furthermore, it would remind everyone that in fact, yes, PlayStation is – and always has been – about more than first-person shooters. We had a lot of those for launch, so…
