The question that is relevant to this website and our community is this- will this controversy have a positive effect on PlayStation 4 sales?
There have been multiple reports of Xbox One games falling short of the ideal 1080p running resolution. For instance, Call of Duty: Ghosts is only an upscaled 1080p on Xbox One while it runs at a native 1080p on the PS4. Battlefield 4 apparently is sub-1080p on the Xbox One, too, which has irritated many a FPS fan.
Then there's Bungie's Destiny , which was seen operating below the optimum HD threshold while in its alpha phase (or so claimed one of the game's testers). Now, Gearnuke cites Annoyed Gamer journalist Marcus Beer, who talks about an obvious difference between the PS4 and Xbox One iterations of Ubisoft's Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag . It seems the Xbox One version was "fuzzier and strained" while the PS4 version was "sharper" and boasted "better draw distances."
This could be good news for Sony fans, as they dealt with subpar multiplatform titles early on in the PS3 generation. Might the PS4 have the multiplatform edge this time around…?
I've talked to people at PC websites and they are unanimous that the PS4 and its superior hardware will give it the best versions of games this time around.
I think Microsoft's biggest issue was their little video that they released a few days ago. I call BS on Yusuf and Marc. I doubt they used a real version of Kinect 2.0 in that video. It's not going to work that flawlessly every time. I use Google Voice and it doesn't work that well every time. My brother says the same thing with Siri.
I also don't think people are dying to showcase their basement furnishings with Kinect 2.0, either.
Guys Battlefield 4 is running 1080p on Playstation 4.
see this link which has the back cover of the Playstation 4 game
realgamernewz . com/21242/back-cover-of-ps4-versions-to-assassins-creed-iv-and-battlefield-4-reveals-something
Any game can say 1080p on the back the PS4 version of BF4 is roughly 900p with a 1080p upscale. Long as there is a 1080p option even if it is an upscale it will say 1080p on the back long as the game does the upscale and not your TV.
Watch even the X1 version which is confirmed 720p will most likely say 1080p on the back.
Though it might simply be going by single-player the single-player of PS4 BF4 is 1080p 60fps.

And for all the people who say that the "cloud" will make x1 games better later on, please realize that sony is going to implement the cloud as well.
More importantly those people are clueless. The
"Cloud" will not improve graphics quality or resolution, not on Xbox One, and not on PS4 either.
Read on IGN that Dead Rising 3 is also running at 720p (at 30 fps). Titanfall apparently might too. Forget Xbone we should go back and call it the Xbox 720………p.
Haha that's a good one
"Xbox One Point Five"
SO funny 🙂 What a messaging nightmare for Microsoft…
720, that's more like it.
No they should just call it Xbox 1.. oh wait, they did!
Why even release a supposed next gen product if there is nothing next gen about it? Seems it will be the trend for MS.
PC and PlayStation will finally unite <3 :*
PC will always have bad games
It's handy that a lot of casual consumers won't even be able to tell/care for the difference.
y dont the casual gamers buy the wii u?
The controllers aren't casual
if the PS4 ends up killing the One in sales, no one is gonna bother with the esRAM, PS4 ports will probably always look superior.
The eSRAM isn't even as big of a deal as Microsoft is trying to make it out to be. In theory if the eSRAM is used the RAM power is roughly on par with the PS4 except from what I have gathered the eSRAM is so limited in the amount of data it can handle it has to constantly switch out data repeatedly and send it through the basic DDR3 RAM. Which means even if the X1 can at it's max potential hit PS4 RAM performance levels it won't simply due to the size of the files it will be handling.
There is a reason Sony didn't go with eSRAM after asking devs their opinions on it.
I'm just glad that multiplats won't be dumbed down on PS4 to match the crappy capabilities of Xbone. I was really afraid of that.
In the current gen devs just didn't know how to program for PS3 and so the multiplats were bad at first, but even later on they refused to make their games any better when it was possible.
Upscalebox 180.
2.0*
I doubt this will impact sales that much. Fans will buy the console regardless of what it can offer, so they are a guarantee. People that are indecisive (which may be many casual "gamers") may be influenced by this fact, but I doubt it will affect the decisions of many, especially if they don't regularly follow gaming websites with news like this one. On the other hand, this great news for PS fans!
If this is true this is utterly pathetic. Even Nintendo's first party offerings are aiming for full 1080p output. Some are even said to be 1080p/60fps like Mario Kart 8.

And some games might be running at 60fps. If the Wii u out powers the xbox one, I think its safe to say farewell to the xbox.
well that wud be nice for a change for sure, i mean even if all games are deved for PC and then ported down it seems the that ps4 pritty much every times gets the better version or even if ps4 is the lead for some games but yeah it wud be nice for the ps4 to have some edge or all the edge for multiplat games
happy gaming =)
There are numerous rumors going around or at least people saying they "know someone" in such-and-such camp.
What consoles come out the door on launch day will eventually be replaced by a second version most likely in a years time. MS may change the hardware a bit as may Sony. Who knows.
What I would like to see or not see (Actually) is hardware failure. Especially at launch. I know both sides are busy with the first day updates for both consoles on launch as well as busy with services and their networks. Thing is if they are … rushing… I am concerned. As long at least they have not rushed on the hardware.
Hope everything goes relatively smoothly at launch.
Keep playing!
"Might the PS4 have the multiplatform edge this time around" – it definitely has, siply cause it's built on a known architecture and have the upper hand on the hardware performance. That's the formula of a winning solution right there.
We should in fact *expect* multiplats to run better on the PS4.
Kind of hard to be surprised, those dumbasses used standard ddr3 memory.
You're supposed to use graphics memory with a graphics processor microsoft!!!
The ps3 only got away with it because they were using xdr which is considered faster than standard memory although it's small amount of memory made the in-game xmb a bit heavy on the latency at times especially with a slim although I haven't accurately compared that since I have not used the fat in a while
"Might the PS4 have the multiplatform edge this time around?"
I think the answer is a resounding yes.
Why? Extra-terrestrials.
It wouldn't even matter of a difference in 720p resolution compose to sub-1080p/1080p, depending on the size of HDTV.

When they initially released the specs, it was said that the X1 would support 4K gaming while the PS4 would not. I was told by many XBox fans that the PS4 wasn't truly next generation, and the X1 is because of this. I am glad to see that their "next gen" system isn't even coming out of the gate at true 1080p.
I said from the beginning that neither machine would be able to handle 4K properly. If either could, then the fps would be terrible, so there would be no point. My theory was that Sony knew they couldn't do it, so they weren't going to lie and say they could.
Don't fall for that BS marketing of Microsoft's; the hardware inside both the Xbox One & the PS4 doesn't have enormous power to properly handle Native 4K gaming at all. It's impossible. Heck, the Xbox One doesn't even have the kind of hardware to properly run games in Native 1080p like the PS4 does.
If Xbox One couldn't run Native 1080p games without making big sacrifices/modifications, then how the hell can it run Native 4K games? The framerates on games running in a 4K resolution on either Xbox One or PS4 would certainly start chugging BIG, even worse than the PS3 version of Skyrim.
As a matter of fact, it's only referring to do 4K video playback (movies), & for UPSCALING games at 4K.

Um.. Yeah. That's basically what I said. I said that there is no way it could handle it, but a lot of people were saying otherwise. I fell for nothing.
Also, how did I get a thumbs down for my post?
