New Update Brings PS4/Vita Friends List Total To 2,000

After all these years working on your Friends list, I bet you wish the PS3 would let you keep more than 100.

Well, how about 20 times more? According to a post from the community manager at the PlayStation EU forums , a new update expands the Friends list for the PlayStation 4 and Vita to 2,000 names.

The PS3 will still only be able to allow for 100 friends. So, if you build a bigger list on the PS4 or Vita and then go back to the PS3, the older system will automatically filter your list down to the maximum 100. But you can still select certain friends if you choose:

"You will be able to set and lock a pre-determined friends list to be used while you play on the PS3 system if you wish. Support for the ability to display all of your friends in most applications and games is planned, however, some titles will be limited to the current 100 Friends limit."

Just out of curiosity, does anyone use the Friends list if they don't really play online? I mean, is there any other purpose? For my part, I'm not the biggest fan of everyone knowing exactly what I'm doing on my system at all times; I don't even get why anyone would care . I certainly don't care what other people are playing or watching.

I don't care but sometimes if a friend is on a game I may ask him to invite me so we can play together.

Set up a friendly FIFA match or join the same GTA V lobby.

Also, I want to say that I got to play the Ps4 at GameStop. You guys are in for a treat. The controller will feel weird. It felt weird to me even after playing for only 20 or so minutes. Maybe more, the system was fun to utilize so time might of flown by quicker. However, the controller had a nice feel to it and after you're used to it you should have no problems. I got to sample FIFA 14 and Knack. The graphics look great on FIFA 14 and the 60fps really makes a difference. I'm sure the 1080p will look great on native 1080p HDTVs too, even though the TV I played FIFA 14 on was most likely 1080i, the game looked great on that department as well.

FIFA itself is garbage but there's no denying that the game did look a lot better and maybe played better on Ps4. I will like to say though that the system kept rebooting for some reason. I'm not sure if it was intentional or not.

Then there was Knack. The game looks good, I guess, but nothing too special. It was very narrow with simple controls but very fun to play. Again, the system kept rebooting itself and I couldn't determine much from the 5 or so minutes I played before the system rebooted. But the game' in my opinion, is fun.

I tried playing other games like resogun(?) but simply couldn't because the system wouldn't allow me to because OF THE DAMN REBOOTS!

Anyway, like I said, the YouTube videos you have been looking at give no justice to how good games really look. They are very different looking from what we're used to based on my short lived experience. The controller is very nice on your greasy hands and the analog sticks feel really nice as well. The L2 and R2 might take some getting used to though. Just because of the fact they they are slimmer than the dualshock 3's.

I did not get to see any of the interface because it was a simple screen with just a few demos. I also did not get to see what the option or share button do because they had no function.

Anyway, my Ps4 is paid off with Knack, Killzone, Battlefield 4, and Assassins Creed IV. I also have the Xbox One with Dead Rising 3 and Forza 5. You may ask yourself if the same game but with graphical differences is not worth getting a new system for, but in my honest opinion, it is.

There was also a PSVita conveniently placed right next to the system. Maybe because they wanted you to sample the remote play as they call it. I didn't bother with it. Not to say I'm not interested.

Edit: One more thing… I didn't really get a good look at the system because it was behind a shinny plastic transparent box-thing, but I'm not really digging the way it looks that much. Not that I care, but I prefer the way the Xbox one looks much better.I got to see it at Walmart. It was not playable, it just sat behind a not-shinny box. All I could do was look at it and judge it. To my eyes, it looks like a better design.

Psh… I don't even know 100 people let alone 2,000. I rarely seem to play with the few friends I already have, so I can't say this is amazing news. To me. But for people with big circles or those more inclined to multiplayer games I am sure this is great news.

Youtubers or famous gamers will benefit. Greatly.

I love this new capacity because there will be more people to help with trophies at nearly all times now 🙂

you got a point, but it's more of a awarded achievement if you do it by yourself.

That'd be amazing if most of the people on my friend list weren't always watching netflix or playing games I play.

I thought it was kinda fun to compare trophy lists, but other than that I didn't use the friends list much on the PS3 other than to call up coop buddies.

I do look forward to the improved features of the PS4 though.

I didn't even get to 100 friends on the PS3. And most of the ones on PS3 were just "some dude I played a game with" not really friends.
