One of the most popular sports franchises in  history is finally set to return.

EA Sports has announced via Twitter that NBA Live 14 will launch on November 19. It will release simultaneously on the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One (although the latter console isn't due out until November 22) and feature the new Ignite Engine.

The publisher had planned to bring back the franchise last year, but things backfired for some reason and NBA Live 13 was canceled. Prior to that, there was talk of NBA Elite 11 , which also never happened. The long-running series hasn't been around for four years, and b-ball fanatics have been stuck with 2K Sports' NBA 2K productions. Although "stuck" is really the wrong word, as those games have been pretty damn fantastic in recent years.

Let's see if EA can reclaim at least a portion of the hoop crown.

I really hope it does make it to launch. I love playing basketball in real life, so I tend to enjoy basketball videogames. I haven't bought one in years, but if it's good, may be a purchase for me.
