When the PlayStation 4 was first announced back in February, one of the most impressive upcoming games on display was Capcom's Deep Down .

At the time, we didn't know much about it. We just knew the debut trailer was unbelievably detailed and all sorts of promising. Now, we know a bit more…and those hoping for an epic single-player role-playing experience will be disappointed.

It actually sounds more like a next-gen Monster Hunter . The publisher held a presentation in Japan ; the "Capcom Network Games Conference," where they introduced a new lineup of online-only games that are in development. On the list was Deep Down , which is apparently an MMO as an Internet connection will be required. It will be playable at this year's Tokyo Game Show and the PS4 is the only confirmed platform. They've also opened up a teaser website and released a new trailer, which doesn't show much.

Well, I suddenly don't care about the game. But I'm sure a great many love the idea; going a-questing with friends ought to be mucho entertaining for the multiplayer fans out there.

MMO, like monthly payment?

Oh no. Please No. Oh God, please no. Nooooo.

I don't think there will be other internet required fees besides Sony's PSN+ for this.

There's only a handful of MMOs that still do monthly subscriptions, like WoW, FF11, FF14, EVE. Everyone else went Cash Shop/Pay-2-Win model since it helps newer titles out by not scaring people away with a fees.

Monthly subs are a thing of the past, that's not cool any more.

Even if it was an MMO, as long as its monster hunter-esqe it'll do well.

Japan has proven that using that formula even a game with little to no advertising and flew under radars can still be successful (Toukiden for the PSP and PSV has sold 350,000 copies in 3 weeks)

One of the things that matters is will we see this over here across the pacific? Lately, some MMOs don't make it over like Phantasy Star online 2, and Monster Hunter Frontier.

actually this could refer to some elements being like a MUD – multi user dungeon, if you are old enough to remember those. there are still a ton of them going, but not many good ones. many are now just online portals for nerds to hangout and talk. i used to play dragonrealms a loooooong time ago, it was like $10 a month, no graphics, all text but it was very cool at its peak and at times there were thousands of players on at the same time. imagine if you had to 'read' Skyrim, like descriptions as you walked, battled, etc. and you get the idea. google it sometime: Dragonrealms. or google MUD games

Hope it's not a mmo, maybe it just has online elements. I would rather have optional monsters that would require maybe 4 or 5 of your buddies to take down for rare drops.

i dont care anymore either, 1 mmo is enough for me and final fantasy xiv has already been hired to do that job

It's kind of dissapointing to see so many people immediately write the game off because it 'sounds' like an MMO.

We all know that being connected is the future right? That no matter how much you complain about it, it will still happen. Video games will also go that way for the most part, eventually I can see every game being connected in some form.

I for one have no problem with any of it, so long as I can always set out on my own adventures, then I am a happy gamer. Destiny is a good example of that, a shared world shooter, where you can still always set out on your own.

Change is as good as a holiday after all.

Color me a bit more curious to this and seeing where this can go. Hopefully good and not a disaster.
