The PlayStation 4 and Xbox One are very hot items heading into this holiday season.
In fact, according to what mega publisher Ubisoft is hearing from certain retailers, the pre-orders are double those of their predecessors. Great news!
During a post-earnings conference call , Ubisoft CEO Yves Guillemot had this to say:
"Some retailers are saying–not all of them–but some retailers are saying that their preorders are two times what they sold at the last generation launch. At the moment they are really getting more preorders than what they saw before."
A combination of factors have come into play. Firstly, the current generation has lasted longer than most any generation before, which has led to evidence of consumer and developer fatigue. Secondly, both new consoles were announced within a few months of each other, and both will launch at about the same time. This has boosted the general overall hype for the next generation, in my opinion. Plus, there has been plenty of great headlines…at least so far as the PS4 is concerned.
I hope it's indicative of a very big launch, the industry really needs it after some staleness from multiplat developers.
Of course I have my PS4 pre-ordered, and it's completely paid off.
Now I just have to wait for the damn thing to launch. 🙂
I preordered mine too, but theres really no launch game that I MUST have right away. Ubisoft games have a tendency of dropping in price within a month.
it also helps that they have some pretty stellar launch titles. Apparently, that is another lesson learned for both systems.
Last Gen I didn't really know about pre ordering, I stood in line for my ps3 only to be 26th in line at a walmart that only had 22. I am happy I don't have to go through with that this gen
Yeah, so this'll surely be the last console generation. All signs points towards it. There's simply no market for them anymore!

I know right? Since games will run on PC there's no need.
I don't think this is any indication of anything except that pre-ordering itself is more popular now than it was in the past.
That's an interesting point.
I don't believe this one second, it's just a ploy to make the XBOXONE popular. How would a game publisher know anything about pre orders in shops or sites?
