In case you missed it, the big event in the gaming world this week was Gamescom. Gamescom is basically the European equivalant of E3. It takes place in Germany and is usually full of exciting announcements for upcoming games.

It’s actually bigger in size and some would argue, better, then E3 and is very oriented around the consumer. Which to be fair, E3 is becoming that way as well. Either way there is usually a good slew of game news and trailers for gamers around the world. Here are 10 of the best announcements from Gamescom 2017.

Shenmue III

After a predictably successful kickstarter campaign, the developers set out to make the long awaited Shenmue III. They were very quiet however and people were starting to wonder. But fear not, solid information has been released in the form of a trailer.

Destiny 2

Just to make sure no one forgets about the hype train that is Destiny 2, they showed up with a new trailer and also showed off a new area called the European Dead Zone.

GT Sport PS4

There wasn’t any new system announcements (those seem to be reserved for E3 usually) this year but there were a few new variations shown. For us PS4 owners there is the GT Sport edition bundle PS4. It’s a 1TB, limited version of the PS4 that looks awful pretty. Especially if you like Gran Turismo.

The bundle includes the game as well as some other in game goodies. Unfortunately it looks like there no planned release for the U.S. Why don’t get all the cool colors of things?

They did show off a new video showcasing gameplay at night and it looks really good.

Shadow of war

The newest installment of Middle Earth showed off some gameplay and it’s looking to be a good improvement from the first game, Shadow of Mordor (couldn’t they have picked a slightly different title?). The release of the game is fast approaching.

Assassin’s Creed: Origins

Like many of the games this year, Origins was there to raise the hype for the game which is right around the corner. They released a new cinematic trailer and showed off some more gameplay.

Battlefront 2

EA showed off some pretty impressive star battle footage. Word is that Battlefront 2 is an improvement on the first game on many fronts. Let’s see if it holds up when it’s released.

Bethesda didn’t have anything new at all and instead showed off some more of Wolfenstein II and Evil Within 2. They also talked more about their VR titles, claiming to start the trend of AAA VR games. There was also a big push for the Dishonored stand alone Death of the Outsider.

Secret of Mana

One of the biggest (if not the biggest) surprises from this year at Gamescom was the announcement of The Secret of Mana 3D remake. This game has a huge following and it looks pretty good if you’re into that kind of thing. It’s being released both for PS4 and Vita on February 15, 2018.

The other big suprise to come out of Gamescom this year was Biomutant. Unlike most of the other announcements, Biomutant is a fresh new IP and boasts a lot of customization and a world that looks both whimsical and entertaining.

Jurassic World Evolution

Jurassic Park Evolution looks very reminiscent of older simulation park games. One of the highlights of those games was doing things you probably shouldn’t like letting animals loose or destroying your city. You’ll be able to do just that as shown in the trailer. Imagine letting a dinosaur loose to chase down your visitors.

Is there any announcments we missed? Which games are you excited for?
