Shadow of the Colossus is a Remake, Not a Remaster

One of the better announcement to come out of the E3 Sony Conference was that the Shadow of the Colossus is coming out for PS4.They wowed the audience with a video showcasing the newest rendition of a very beloved game. The first shot started with the bridge in the distance and most fans recognized it right away. It was very exciting news if you’re a fan of the game.

After some of the buzz died down people were wondering about the game itself. Is it a remaster? We already have a remaster (along with ICO) on the PS3. Do we really need another one for the PS4? No matter how nice it looks? Luckily we found out a little bit more information in a interview with Sony President Shuhei Yoshida over at Famitsu.

Famitsu asked the burning question and it’s good news:

Well that’s pretty awesome. It is a remake which is good news. Unfortunately it doesn’t look like there is going to be any new content. There is quite a bit of unused content that would be really neat to see in the game including colossi that weren’t used in the original game.

Everything in the game is getting an overhaul using new technology. That includes controls as well but that doesn’t mean you’ll be stuck with using a new control scheme. The controls of the original game are part of what made it interesting. Luckily you’ll have the option to use the old control scheme.

The more I hear about this remake the more interested I am. Just going by the graphical update is enough to garner most people's interest. I mean, look at the difference:
