If you're wondering when you'll be able to play Diablo III on consoles, well…it's a little complicated. Pay attention.

It'll come to the PS3 and Xbox 360 on September 3 of this year. However, it won't hit next-generation consoles until 2014, as per recent Blizzard info . The odd part is that the game has been confirmed for the PS4 but not the Xbox One.

Game director Josh Mosqueira and designers Travis Day and Wyatt Cheng said that releasing Diablo III for the PS4 in 2014 gives the team time to "create unique features." We already know they're planning to take advantage of the Dual Shock 4, as the touhpad will be used to manage the inventory. What else might they add…? If you're wondering, the title in question launched for the PC in May 2012 and went on to sell over 12 million copies as of December 31. That ain't too shabby, and we imagine many more will buy it on consoles.

Then again, maybe a lot of people are thinking Diablo can really only be enjoyed on PC. That may not be true, but we gotta see the final product before passing judgment.

But… when in 2014? I want this game but I don't know which system to purchase it for.

I don't understand why this game is being pushed so far back for the PS4. If the PS4 is using a modified PC architecture then shouldn't it be easier to develop than the PS3 version?

But I think this is the type of game that could be awesome on a console. Having that direct control, rather than the point and click control, will be a big difference and could be amazing honestly.

I look forward to this.

Yeah I also just read on ign that they apparently only recently received PS4 dev kits. How recent they mean is unclear though.

12 million people bought this old fashioned thing? wow.

Well ya…

Old school gameplay sure beats a majority of the "new" games I've seen from this current generation.

I'd rather not be forced to be online to play a video game, so I'd avoid the PC version like the plague. Also, the game was basically broken when it first arrived, according to reports…and that's par for the course for PC games, as far as I can tell.

Also doesn't have the replay value that the previous Diablo games did apparently.

And yeah, so glad the console version isn't online only.

Yeah according to my colleagues (I've not played it myself) it's been severly dumbed down, for reasons I won't quote but I guess it's no surprise who the PC gamers blame.

This old PC VS console war thing is what's *really* dumb.

Would you like me to assemble a series of fu**-up reports for just about every major PC release in the past five years? Do you not remember the countless headlines of fans freaking out about Diablo III because it was basically unplayable out of the gate? And after HOW many years in development?

Doesn't happen with console games. Not ever. That's all I'm saying.

I didn't mean to start an argument, (used to be a PC Diablo gamer) but this thing would just be a basic downloadable budget title in the console world so I dont' get why it's such a phenomenon.

Well, because PC players still think 1998 gameplay is "l33t." They live in the past more than Final Fantasy fans do. 😉

Oh come on, Ben. You're better than this. You know you can't assemble such a list.

It's like someone would take the month PSN downtime and say the PSN has hardly worked *at all* the last five years, with consoles still living in the 1998 world of online connectivity.

It's just so depressingly immature. Like it or not but you are a sort of front figure in this console community. Is this really the low brow attitude you want to be associated with console fans?

No? Hmm…what was wrong with Sim City again? EA had to issue a public apology for it. And what about Final Fantasy XIV? It was so bad, it got 3s in reviews because it really WAS completely broken. There are people who freakin' boycotted over Diablo III, it turned out so bad at first.

I don't mean every single PC release, of course. I mean that when a high-profile game is released exclusively for PC, there appears to be a VERY good chance that it will suffer some sort of major problem.

And it IS true that this doesn't happen to console games. No, it never does. That part isn't exaggeration at all.

Diablo 3 is FAR too big to even consider comparing it to a crappy budget title XD XD. Play it before saying such things. It might look basic at first glance but the amount of work put in that game is huge and the whole mechanics are pretty neatly done. Plus there is a whole economy going on in that game. Anyway when you play it it feels like they took the time to make it work right. Not like those small budget titles that feel cheap most of the time. (there are a few exceptions)

With all the TALES games coming out for the ps3, I might wait and get this game for the ps4. Still not sure about it just yet. I mean, I will be playing FF 14 as well on the PS3.

End of line.

Eh, I was in the beta for PC. I had fun with it but it got old after a bit. I'm sure they've added a lot by now but I think I'm over it. There's too many other games I want to spend my time on.

I'm definitely interested in picking this one up. No idea when though. I have FFXIV, FFX/X-2 HD, and GTAV to play this year. Not to mention the games I'm probably forgetting. Probably a 'down the road' PS4 buy for me.

Yeah, I am not going to be able to wait. I am picking up the PS3 version D1. I will enjoy it immensely and then trade it in for the PS4 version later. I love playing through Diablo games multiple times with different characters so this will work fine for me.

I'll be waiting for the ps4 version. I'm glad they want to add to it, but honestly that touch screen sounds like more of a hassle than a feature.
