Yes, people still do play board games.
Especially if it's a game that's based on a favorite video game franchise, like Dark Souls .
In what has to be one of the fastest-funded Kickstarter campaigns in history, it took a mere three minutes for the Dark Souls board game to hit its funding goal of £50,000 ($72,000). It has now received a ridiculous $463,352 from 4,112 backers and there are still 26 days to go! This is a tabletop game designed for 1-4 players and here's the official description:
"Players choose from a number of core character classes and explore dangerous locations full of monsters, treasures, and deadly boss fights. Designed specifically for the Dark Souls universe and introducing a number of innovative gameplay mechanics, with world-class miniatures faithful to the rich universe, this game delivers an experience that captures the very essence of the original video games."
If you pledge £75 ($108) or more, you can guarantee yourself one of these games when they arrive. In response to this skyrocketing Kickstarter, manufacturer Steamforged simply said, "Bloody hell! We are over the moon!" They've already added the following items to core Kickstarter pledges and of course, you can expect some serious stretch goals.
If you've been playing and enjoying Dark Souls III and/or you're a big fan of the series, you should definitely contribute. Geez, how much do you think it'll ultimately bring in…?!
wow. it could possibly hit the million dollar mark. i havent checked out the listing yet, but if a lot of the perks have been snagged up; i wouldnt be surprised if they add additional perks or increase the quantity of others
It seems anything with the words Demon or Souls is going to rake in the money & fans.
Rightly so too as the series never lets up. It truly is a classic name now.
People still play board games?
sad, sad souls do.
? Tableboard gaming as changed a lot, you people are really missing a lot.

is that supposed to be just a joke? Because I certainly hope so.
Quite the contrary IMO – people who play board games usually have quite a LOT of friends to actually have fun with. i'd take a game of something like Ultimate Wolf over whatever game that can go CO-OP online or whatever.
it's that much more fun – but guess that's all perspective.
It's just one man's opinion but I find it super lame to sit around a board game and play it, or to sit and play cards. I mean if there was an apocalypse and there weren't thousands of better more interesting options I'd do it, hell I play board games with the kids I mentor all the time, but they're kids, it just seems super lame for grown men.
Not sayin' I'm right, just my stance on that ancient stuff. You have to introduce alcohol to even make it interesting.

With that extreme point of view it's a lot more lame to sit alone playing video games, table board gaming as becoming lot more complex these days, I can't see kids playing games like Dead of Winter, Pandemic or the Legendary Series (Marvel, Aliens, Predator).
That doesn't make any sense. We all sit alone and play video games. It's tons of fun, it's the most dynamic and exciting and largest form of entertainment in the world today.
Any word on whether this will be as difficult to play as it's virtual counterpart?
LOL Let's hope not.
I read that they want to make us feel the same frustration as the game. lets see if it can't beat Pandemic.
The greatest "bored" game of all time.
