If you're a long-time gamer, you might remember the name Wonder Boy .
2016 marks the 30th anniversary of the once-popular arcade franchise but the last time we saw a new title was way back in 1994 ( Monster Hunter World IV ). Thankfully, though, the triumphant return is nigh!
As announced over at the PlayStation Blog , the spiritual successor – dubbed Monster Boy – will land on PlayStation 4 later this year. Those who adore the classic Metroidvania style will definitely be on board! This colorful, side-scrolling adventure features a character who can transform into different animal forms. Doing so will allow him to conquer various enemies and puzzles.
And thanks to the help of Ryuichi Nishizawa and LAT corporation licensing, the developers obtained access to "the whole library of characters, graphics assets, sounds, and music from the entire Wonder Boy series." They're also going for 1080p and 60 frames per second with hi-res 2D graphics, and we get fantastic tracks from legendary Japanese composers Yuzo Koshiro, Motoi Sakuraba and Michiru Yamane.
Bet this one will be loads of fun!
