Rocket League is a success…and that's one hell of an understatement.
The award-winning game that sees little vehicles knocking a ball around in a unique approach to soccer has hit a couple new milestones, as Psyonix boss Jeremy Dunham said in a recent Kinda Funny Games interview (via Gamasutra ).
Dunham says the popular title has now generated over $70 million in revenue from the PlayStation 4 and PC versions (and don't forget that it just came out on Xbox One). Plus, the overall sales number has surpassed 4 million PS4 and PC, and that stat doesn't count copies downloaded when the title was free for PlayStation Plus members in January 2015. As of right now, the massive Rocket League community sits at around 11 million people, so obviously, a lot of people got it when it was free.
Man, they've really come a long way from Supersonic Acrobatic Rocket-Powered Battle-Cars , haven't they? And Psyonix is bound to generate even more cash when Rocket League gets its disc-based retail release . Haven't played it yet? What are you waiting for?!
