Yes, Infinity Ward’s New Call Of Duty Is Launching This Year

Another year, another Call of Duty .

Not like anyone is really complaining, right? Publisher Activision has confirmed that the expected new CoD installment will launch this holiday (via GameSpot ) and yes, it's coming from Infinity Ward.

They delivered the record-breaking Modern Warfare sub-titles but we haven't heard from them since Call of Duty: Ghosts back in 2013 (which was actually considered by many to be a step back) In 2014, relative newcomer Sledgehammer Games produced the very successful Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare . As for IW's new effort, Activision would only say it's "innovative" though they didn't unveil any specifics at this point. We expect to learn more soon.

Treyarch gave us last year's blockbuster Call of Duty: Black Ops III ; this new three-team approach lets the franchise enjoy a three-year development cycle for each entry, and that's a big bonus. Anyone have any idea what Infinity Ward will do this time around? Don't they have some ground to make up after Ghosts ?

Ghosts is wretched. I can't believe people still buy infinity ward COD installments. The sound alone is reason enough to pass.

Given that this isn't really Infinity Ward, and hasn't been since about 2010, I can't imagine this game doing anything but being lackluster in an already abused franchise that proves there is no god.

IW havent made a good cod since mw2.

That's because the real IW hasn't made a CoD since MW2.

Hence why Titanfall 2 might be really great.

The core team that made CoD what it is today is behind it. This time with a real campaign.

Yes, I had super high hopes for the first because West and Zampella were behind it. It could have been much better, but I didn't think it was as bad as most people thought. The controls were really solid like all West/Zampella games and they did try building a new IP from scratch with a new studio. They successfully did it with the first CoD but that was in a different era now.

One thing that's true for them is they don't like repeating themselves. The second CoD was completely different than the first, and their third CoD went modern. MW2 was only so similar because of Activision I think. So I'm expecting a much improved upon, different Titanfall 2.

Call of Duty 20 ghost 3 confirmed while assassins creed is taken a break. Activision is still milking call of Duty

creed needs the break. wasnt their last game practically broken?

cod has maintained the consistency of their games working without the need of patches to fix a broken game. the only issues people run into are server/connection issues which ends up being a finger pointing match.

ghosts is the worst cod. MW2 was IW's best cod. if theyre going to continue the ghost story then this will be the first cod i have skipped. thats one story line i do not care to go back to or see expanded in any way.

yeah yeah yeah, hate me for being the only person on this forum that plays cod and destiny lol but hey i need something to pass time for until all the better games release 🙂

The one before last was broken, yeah, Shaytoon. Unity was riddled with bugs. The patch was about as large as the game itself. Atrocious!

Syndicate was a really well made game, though. Similar issues to any other sandbox titles, but overall quite good.

@Shaytoon: Your not the only one, I still enjoy CoD. The controls still have that feel and responsiveness that only CoD has imo. But CoD4 was my favorite IW CoD.

I just hope it's feet on the ground this time, no more jump suits. But the empty shell of a game studio they're still somehow calling Infinity Ward these days better deliver something better than Ghost.
