Hey, this just might make your day.
We haven't seen the once-esteemed Onimusha franchise in a while, and some believe it might be dead.
But thankfully, Capcom boss Yoshinori Ono doesn't entertain such grim notions. In fact, he just told The Daily Star that Capcom is well aware of the fan outcry for another installment, and there have been some internal discussions concerning such a project:
"Capcom as a company know we have many brands, IPs and series that are beloved by players around the world, and we always have fans asking when is this or that coming back. I've spoken internally with people who made Onimusha with me originally and talked about maybe how interesting it would be to revisit that series."
Ono added that a new Onimusha game hasn't started development and frankly, he can't think about it until Street Fighter V is out the door. Speaking of which, you should check out the full-length CG trailer if you haven't already. As for another Onimusha , I'm so down for that. Loved those games!
And Onimusha was already an action/rpg, and capcom is actually good at those. It's an exciting thought.
I really don't think Onimusha ever qualified as an action/RPG.
It always felt like Resident Evil with swords and magic to me.
Which is why the thought of it coming back is both very exciting and worrisome to me. They better not mess with the formula too much if this goes through. Although i guess a lot of what I perceive to be wrong with the new REs could work a lot better with Onimusha. Has anyone done over the shoulder swordplay before? Could be interesting.

A genre dispute, I like it!
It's really not an RPG. If it is, then every single action game on the planet would also be an "action/RPG." Bloodborne is an action/RPG. Mass Effect is an action/RPG. Onimusha definitely is not.
Is Devil May Cry an action/rpg too? No. The same thing applies to Onimusha.
Itâs just an action adventure game.

Didn't feel like an action RPG to me. Tank controls and monsters? It's a ninja version of Resident Evil and Devil May Cry, which of course is not an action RPG, more an action-adventure.
this game has so much potential, give it some dark souls treatment, complicate the swordplay and whatever magic spells and you have new age classic
Onimusha was definitely my favorite action rpg on the ps2. I really hope this is made into a reality.
Yes! Yes! Yes!
I only dabbled in Onimusha as a youth so I'm okay whatever happens. Be cool to try again.
So where are we on DmC 2 or Devil May Cry 5 guys?

Hopefully there's no DmC 2… ugh.. DmC is probably the worst entry in the series after DMC 2.
As I said before… DMC5 needs to have the action/gameplay of DMC 3 + the setting from DMC1 and the Dante from DMC 4 in order to be a complete success.

I know the fans hated it but the critics disagreed. It's hard to tell what Capcom will do. Though I wonder if pretending DmC didn't exist will repair the damage of fan loss.
but they need to keep DmC's camera.
yes
I'd like to see more Onimisha but thankfully what I've seen of NiOh scratches that itch for me already.
