The competition in the realm of open-world action games is pretty ridiculous these days.

But that doesn't scare Mafia III developer Hanger 13, the new 2K studio centered in Novato, California. In fact, Executive Producer Andy Wilson tells Prankster 101 (via WCCF Tech ) that there's "a bit more room" for success:

"We’ve actually been looking at it since the launch of the new consoles and it seems that there is a bit more room than there used to be. Things are consolidating around bigger titles [and there are] fewer of them overall then we were seeing towards the end of the last generation. I think we’ve built a game that’s just going to stand up there with the best. So I’m not concerned about it in that respect…

I’m a firm believer that if you put a really good game together and you get the right kind of support from the publisher, then you’ll find your player base. And we’re very much hoping to do that with this as well."

According to recent retail evidence , the anticipated sequel is set to arrive on April 26 for PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC. And while the coast is clear in regards to AAA open-world blockbusters around that time, they will have to battle the PS4 exclusive, Uncharted 4: A Thief's End , which is also scheduled to release on April 26.

Well, you just have to clear a space on your schedule to play both, right? After all, Mafia III will be a very different experience.
