Team Bondi Secures Necessary Funding For Whore Of The Orient

Hopefully, things are back on track now.

According to Game Informer , production company KMM Interactive has received $200,000 in new funding from the Australian government. The money was necessary to help finance Team Bondi's ambitious new next-gen game, Whore of the Orient .

The premise sounds great: We explore 1936 Shanghai, "the most corrupt and decadent city on the planet." It's also a "boiling pot of Chinese nationalism," with Kuomintang forces trying to halt the spread of communism. This seems like the perfect idea for the L.A. Noire developer; right up their alley, wouldn't you say? Don't forget that after the unfortunate saga surrounding Team Bondi (poor work environment, numerous complaints, etc.), KMM Interactive bought the assets and IP rights to the developer's work. That includes Whore of the Orient , of course.

The title is tentatively slated for 2015 but at least now we know development will proceed.

Wow, thought Australia wouldn't like anything called "whore". I hope they don't end up acting like Rhode Island if things don't go their way.

Lol the language that comes out from your average Australians mouth is surprising, even to me. Just look at mr blank line guy and the way he speaks in comments. Its disgusting.

Great news. 'L.A. Noire' was an absolutely awesome game for those who knew what they were getting into, and considering the direction this industry continues to go in, 'Whore of the Orient' sounds exactly like the kind of game I need.

SWEET!
hopefully this means it wont take 6 f*cking years to make, get announced than go silent for 5 of those years.
now only if this useless government would fix up the f*cking roads!
hows the M4 extension going?
you know the promise to extend the M4 all the way into the city?
the promise which was made YEARS ago!?
or how about parramatta road?
you know the road that was a few weeks ago voted the countries worst road?
now i can see why they want everyone to use that public transport which only comes once every 20 minutes, and 99% of the trains and buses are 10+ minutes late!
sigh.

I've never been to your wonderful country, but I am pretty sure that the infrastructure in America is far worse off than it is in Australia.

I would be THRILLED if the U.S. government sent money to Team Bondi to get this game made and spent the rest on our crumbling infrastructure, rather than waste it like they always do on pointless wars.

But hey, that's just me. 🙂

Lol. 99% of people on this site have no idea what those roads are.

But the state government is the one responsible for that. And with our country in the kind of debt we are in, I would rather them spend money fixing things that need fixing.

@JR0D0823
well its not like our government really has spare cash to throw around. We just have a bunch of total morons in power. I personally find it hard to believe that the government is throwing cash at game developers while there are SO many other things that need fixing. Throw some cash at our power grid to help them improve infrastructure, so then the power companies can stop increasing power prices by 70% year on year.

this is from the NSW state government too.
and it took me 20 minutes to drive to a interview last thursday, and TWO HOURS to drive back.
that does not need fixing?
the M4 is a f*cking car park every single god dam day of the week!
not to mention theres a accident a day on there as well.
not so long ago two semi trailers plowed through the cement barricade and ended up on the wrong side of the road plowing through cars like dominoes!
they have been talking about extending the road for YEARS, but as usual they say one thing and do another.
