PS4 Components Shipping Ahead Of Xbox One Components?

The PlayStation 4 will be a hot item when it debuts later this year, and it appears Sony is already gearing up to meet the increased demand.

According to a recent DigiTimes report , components for Sony's new console have already started shipping, "and volumes may reach one million units per month by September for the year-end holidays."

At the same time, Microsoft Xbox One components aren't expected to start shipping until the third quarter. The PS4 is being manufactured by Foxconn Electronics (Hon Hai Precision Industry). The Xbox One is being produced by Pegatron Technology, with components supplied by Lite-On IT, Lite-On Technology, Foxlink, Asia Optical, Kinko Optical, Newmax, Foxconn Technology, Coxon, Nishoku, Elite Advanced Laser, Tong Hsing Electronic Industries, Adda, Delta Electronics, Chicony Electronics and Neng Tyi. Uh…that's a lot of companies. The Xbox One is like a cacophony of exotic components, or something.

But anyway, none of this should really effect the launch dates (both systems are expected to launch in November). This just means that thankfully, there may be enough PS4s to go around when it arrives.

Hopefully that's true because I'm not pre-ordering right now. Hopefully something that triggers my interest is released by Black Friday.

You can pre-order one on amazon, they won't bill you until it ships, so if you get closer to the release date and find yourself short on funds you can just cancel your pre-order.

Good on Sony! It should be a big successful launch for them this time round. I will be interested to hear what the numbers are after the holidays when they come in.

Still not buying at launch but… definitely be watching with envious eyes.

Going to Europe this summer so I will be interested in hearing whats being said over there.

Keep Playing!

Nice to see Sony ramping up production efforts. It's looking like they're going to need it.

I have a couple Foxconn NanoPC's that I use as HTPC's. They're pretty slick.

Oh dear, isn't MS inviting disaster again by mashing together components from so many manufacturers?

They've been inviting disaster since the first rumors of their next-gen console saw the light of day. I swear, the X1 looks like it's going to be the Red Wedding of console launches.

Yick, don't say Red Wedding, I hated that whole conception. Shame on Mr. Martin.

Sorry about that. Are you one of the recently traumatized, or have you been living with this for 13 years?

Yowch. Just so you know, it wasn't any better the second time around. I chucked the book across the room after that scene way back when.

I did pick it up again, though. Mostly because of Arya and Tyrion.

MS is 'over delivering' value with the XboxOne so no one should be concerned. =p

The IGN write up about how they were showing Xbone games at E3 on Windows 7 gaming rigs was interesting. They think it's either because the Xbone hardware is incomplete or because there is something seriously wrong with it so they weren't able to use it at E3. The latter wouldn't surprise me given they knowingly shipped defective 360's at the beginning of this last gen.

HAHA! Are you serious?!

Wow.

I did hear a lot of people say their E3 presentation was pre-recorded actually.

I wonder what the PS4 conference was running on.

Microsoft should change their name to Macrofail. I kinda feel sorry for their workers like this guy….

He is just one of many who's task it was to show up at the Nintendo/BestBuy E3 demo events in BestBuy stores to try and get Nintendo fans to preorder the Xbone instead of buying a Wii U. He's just doing his job but this to me is another example of MS's classless behavior(like demoing their Xbone games on Windows 7 gaming rigs at E3) and that they are probably scared.

He probably pre-ordered a PS4 off camera.

It's the third console curse. Nintendo kicked butt with the N64, then Gamecube failed, Sony kicked butt with the PS2 then the PS3 had a rough start. Now it's MS's turn.

I think they got arrogant and misunderstood their mandate. Gamers want games with little to no restrictions. MS thought with the heard like success of the 360 they could cook up a crap sandwich for the next gen and figured their loyalists would eat it with a smile. Seems they misunderstood their fanbase. Anecdotal but many of the gamers I know who preferred the 360 last gen are switching.

@Jawknee,

The last time I checked, the Gamecube was Nintendo's fourth home console.

Yep… my memory checks out, it was number 4 in line.

Which one of the two Nintendo consoles that were released before the N64 do you not acknowledge the existence of?

Make no mistake gentlemen, there will be a lot of XBones sold in the U.S. Unfortunately there are a vast majority that do not actually research anything at all. Those are the same people who could not name their own Vice President or all 50 states. As long as the box says Xbox, they will buy it.

There are several young men who work for me who had no idea about the restrictions of the XBone, until I informed them, now they are getting PS4s.

im not so sure the ps4 will be released in november.
if it was why wont $ony commit to that, especially after m$ announced it in their E3 presser?
just seems wrong that a system thats been announced for 4 months still does not have a launch month, and a system thats been announced for less than a month does!
oh well, hopefully this means when it does release it will have enough units to go around, and also enough to try group the launches for each country allot closer.
no more of this one country gets it, than others have to wait 4+ months!
