Even though GameStop says the title has under-performed thus far , digital sales are through the roof.

Publisher Electronic Arts has announced that the recently released Star Wars: Battlefront has broken the company's digital download record. It's also the "biggest launch" of any new "Star Wars"-themed video game.

As revealed in a blog post , EA Studios boss Patrick Soderlund confirmed that players can look forward to "lots of new content," which is good news because a common complaint from fans is that the product feels a little light. The first DLC pack is a free expansion inspired by the new movie, "The Force Awakens" and will be be available on December 1 for those who pre-ordered the game. Everyone else will get access to The Battle of Jakku a week later on December 8.

Plus, in addition to what you're getting with the $50 Season Pass , Soderlund said we can anticipate more free updates:

"We will be adding more of what you love about the game, like new maps and Star Cards, for free in the coming months, in addition to all of the content we have coming with Season Pass. We'll have more to share soon."

EA has already said that more Battlefront games are coming in the future, so more good news for die-hard franchise followers!
