Oh, nobody really believes it. But it's still fun.

There have been lots of reports from legitimate sources about Microsoft refusing to speak to the press, canceling interviews, and paying publishers to block out the PlayStation symbol on multiplatform games shown during E3. Then MS went and made things worse by…you know, talking at the conference. Still, would they really stoop to halting a poll just to save face?

Amazon started a poll on June 13, asking gamers which console they'd choose in the next generation. This poll was supposed to run through June 20 but as noted by Cinema Blend , Amazon has prematurely ended the lopsided contest. The results were about 95% in favor of the PS4, which is pretty nuts (and boring from a competition standpoint), but why did the poll stop? What's the point of ending it four days early?

Oh, the conspiracy theorists are running around saying Microsoft put a stop to it. It was only resulting in more damaging headlines and when MS saw it, they decided to put the whammy on the poll. Then again, maybe Amazon just stopped it because the comments were getting ugly. That's possible, too; when the console wars and fanboy nonsense leaks into the mainstream, it really is pretty embarrassing. Besides, maybe Amazon just figured there wasn't any reason to keep it up; the battle was won, right?

Even so… Nah, it's just plain silly. It was amusing to see people asking how many MS employees voted in the poll, though.

I wouldn't put it past Microsoft to stop the poll, though. Maybe Amazon just ended it because of the one sidedness.

Yeah, I actually wouldn't be surprised if they did something like that, however, I agree that it's most likely because of how much the PS4 was creaming the Xbone. It still is a little odd, though, given it ended four days early. I wonder if Amazon will say anything about it.

This does sound like something Micro$oft would do.

The really funny thing for me is that they have over 94,000 employees across all of their divisions and 77 million 360's sold and they STILL couldn't do much more than 2,000 votes. Hell, they could cart in employees to applaud at the Xbone reveal so why couldn't they pad the numbers?

I think if MS were involved they would have tried to shut the poll down long before the numbers reached 95%.

Amazon probably thought the point was made and decided to start a different poll.

I'd like to start another conspiracy theory. Since it has been revealed that MS once again conspired with the government to help spy on people let's just say that they plan to use the Kinect microphone to listen to you for terrorist-like phrases. That should put another nail in the ol coffin.

Not just listen man, what do you think that camera is for? Certainly it's for more than those wonky things they call games.

Yeah, if you think about it, it has the ability to detect your voice even when it's off. Combined with the ability to connect online while it's sleeping, it's the perfect set up for such things.

I'm not saying that it's true, but no way am I taking my chance on it. I just don't see why the Kinect HAS to be connected. It's not like it's extra processing power. You can turn on the system the old fashion way and you certainly don't need if you're not going to use any of its voice features.

Funny, it's 2013, but it sounds an awful like Nineteen Eighty-Four.

I heard the Xbone is also a prototype Gobot that, upon hearing a certain phrase, transforms and vaproizes any "threatening" presences (i.e. the PS4 or any Sony products). It may even also stop terrorists. Possibly.

Hey MS pays out the rear to get everything else they want, why not throw some money at amazon to take the poll down. If I was amazon I'd remove a poll if someone was going to pay me to do so.

I wouldn't put it past them. Anyone familiar with Microsoft's history knows that the concept of proper business ethics doesn't exist with them. It's possible that Amazon did shut it down since it was uber one-sided, but with MS in damage-control mode right now you never know.

That's why its called a "theory". Until MS or Amazon confirm anything people have the right to believe anything they want as far as I'm concerned.

Amazon wants to sell BOTH systems. They probably pulled it because it might affect pre-sales of Xbox One and games/accessories.

maybe Amazon stopped it because they need more XboxOne pre-orders

I also noticed that during both the EA and Ubisoft E3 presentations that every time any game (with one exception) was coming to both consoles (PS4 and Xbox One), Xbox One was always said first followed by PS4, so "… coming 2014 on Xbox One and Playstation 4". The only time during both presentations that someone said "Playstation 4 and Xbox One" was one of the developers following the live game-play demo of The Division (which was played using DS4 controller). I'm guessing that he was later probably disciplined for not saying Xbox One first.

They probably had to end the poll so it didn't reach 99% for Sony and then Amazon would not be able to sell any more XBox One's if Amazon shopper saw that poll.
