Uncharted without Naughty Dog? That might not go over well.
We've heard the developers say that the upcoming Uncharted 4: A Thief's End is Nathan Drake's swan song , but would it be possible for Sony to bring the award-winning IP to a different studio?
Sony Computer Entertainment Europe president Jim Ryan addressed the possibility in speaking to Eurogamer :
"[Uncharted is] an IP that's very closely tied to that developer. That's all I'll say. It's something that's very special to us, and I think much of that specialness relates to the association between the franchise and [Naughty Dog]. It'd be a difficult step to break that association."
Naughty Dog hasn't said they won't create more Uncharted games; they've just said they're done with this particular protagonist. However, the studio has also said Uncharted 4 marks "the end of an era," so that could be interpreted in a certain way. Personally, I can't imagine a new game in the series with an entirely different team at the helm, can you?
