PlayStation 4 continues to roll in the U.S.
The September NPD results are in and once again, Sony's console was the #1 piece of gaming hardware in the country.
In response to this continued success, Sony offered the following statement in a press release:
"As we kick off the holiday season, we would like to take a moment to thank fans for making PlayStation 4 the best-selling console and #1 in software sales in September. PlayStation 4 was the number one console for NBA 2K16, Madden NFL 16, Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain, and FIFA 16. Including the highly successful limited edition console bundle, PS4 also led retail sales for Destiny: The Taken King."
NPD Group analyst Liam Callahan added that all 8th-generation consoles enjoyed double-digit growth when comparing sales on a week-by-week basis between August and September 2015. Furthermore, combined PS4 and Xbox One sales are currently tracking 40 percent higher than the combined 23-month totals for the PS3 and 360. The only downside is the year-over-year comparison, as September 2014 outstripped this year's month by 23 percent. Don't forget that Destiny first launched in September last year.
As for the top-performing games for the month, sports titles won the day:
Just remember that the NPD numbers don't count digital sales, a fact that's becoming more glaring with every passing month.
Love it or hate it, Destiny continues to get the sales.
