Sony Can’t Confirm TLoU2 But They’re Obviously Intrigued

Back in late June, Nathan Drake voice actor Nolan North pseudo-confirmed a sequel to The Last Of Us .

However, there has been no official announcement, even though Naughty Dog has sort of hinted at the project in the past. Now, while Sony can't confirm it, either, they do say they're interested, and they know the developers are currently brainstorming.

PlayStation boss Shuhei Yoshida told Eurogamer that in fact, they've been talking about it since the launch of the original title:

"We haven't confirmed The Last of Us 2. But ever since the launch of the first game, people like [The Last of Us creative director Neil Druckmann] are talking about some ideas for a potential sequel, some experiments that they want to do. It's just talks around development."

He added that although there is "no confirmed information" at this time, they're definitely intrigued. How will the story continue? What will happen to main characters Joel and Ellie? Will the narrative play out with different characters in a prequel format? Yoshida and Co. would love to find out:

"Like many people, we wish to see what it's going to be like, how the story's going to develop, what life these characters have after what happened in The Last of Us."

We do have The Last Of Us: Remastered on PlayStation 4 but as incredible as it is, I think we all want that sequel, right?

They can take their sweet time. The first was one of if not the best game of last generation and I would love for them to take their time to make a fantastic game. Although to hear talks are happening is ofc great 😀

Where oh where would they take TLoU universe this time? I think it took me about three playthroughs in a row b/f I felt done with the first one. Still went for the remastered. Really curious about the setting and character choice for a sequel.

The sequel could always be a prequel…there was a 20-year gap in the story.

I know I definitely want a sequel. I'm emotionally invested with Joel and Ellie. That story was that damn good. For me, that game was lightning in bottle. Hopefully ND can deliver on the next one. if anybody can, they can.
