Collector's Editions are common, as are high price tags.
But perhaps this particular price tag is simply too high, despite the relative awesomeness of the package itself.
Publisher Electronic Arts has announced the Mirror's Edge: Catalyst Collector's Edition, which is exclusive to GameStop in North America and to GAME in the UK. The bundle includes the following:
EA says this edition was created to "help foster player's affinity with our heroine, Faith, as she grows up and makes a stand against oppression." That's all well and good but as some sources are noting , gamers aren't too enthusiastic about the exorbitant $200 price tag (£159.99 at GAME, which is comparatively more expensive). Thing is, people are saying that despite the limited edition and well-made trinkets, they just don't seem to be worth that cost.
What do you think? If you're a fan of the series and this Collector's Edition appeals to you, would you spend the money? Mirror's Edge: Catalyst , which is not a true sequel but a full-fledged reboot, is scheduled to launch on February 23, 2016.
Overpriced piece of junk with no true value. Dear god, I feel sorry for people get ripped. Now the $70 and $80 editions are cool. I bought the ME3 collection and got a cool steel case, pointless but cool art book, the soundtrack and some other nonsense. I love music scores so that alone enticed me…with its FAIR price. This though…for $200…round of applause EA!!!
I could see a $200 collectors edition for something like Fallout 4 or AC:Syndicate but not Mirror's Edge. The original wasn't a huge success and I'm amazed that they even approved a sequel. Who is this thing aimed at?
If Fallout's collectors edition is 120$ there's absolutely no way this should be any higher.
…did they forge the steel in the fires of hell and summon da Vinci's ghost to paint the original for the lithograph?
while i bought the original game day 1 and got the collectors bag, this is not worth the money.
i like steel books but the rest is crap. tired of statues and this one is boring.
isnt ea voted worst company?
So I guess everyone just ignores the fact that COLLECTOR'S EDITIONS were once rare and for guys/girls who wanted to COLLECT them…
Nobody is forcing you to buy that version and the purpose of a CE anyway is to just sit on a shelf and look good. Those little trinkets are rarely ever difference makers anyway.
I'm all for higher priced CE games…makes it a bit more exclusive. All they need to do now is make less copies of said games.
