Another month, another win for PlayStation 4.
The August NPD results are in and once again, Sony's console was the best-selling console in the U.S. for the month.
Sony confirmed that PS4 was the best-selling console and the top system in regards to software for August, noting the #1 game – Madden NFL 16 – sold best on PS4. All told, hardware sales were down 2 percent year-over-yaer to $190.5 million; NPD analyst Liam Callahan added that "93 percent of unit sales in August 2015 came from bundles, which compares to 41 percent in August 2014."
As for software, games sales were up 34 percent for PS4, Xbox One and Wii U, even though previous generation software sales fell 51 percent. Not too surprising; the longer this generation goes, the fewer PS3/360/Wii games will be sold. Just remember that the NPD only counts physical retail sales, a practice that's probably going to have to change sooner rather than later.
And here's the top 10 for August:
I'd like to see a PS4 price drop soon. Even from you Nintendo concerning your Wii U.
Edit: has anyone noticed that the vita pulls in respectable numbers from both Europe and Japan by VGChartz reckoning. For some reason Americans avoid it.

I don't think Sony will put a price drop on the PS4 any time soon because the PS4 is consistently the #1 seller.
From a pure business prospective, why lose income?
I honestly can't see Sony losing the NPD for September either.
