When will we see Killzone again?
Well, developer Guerrilla Games isn't sure but they have no plans to abandon the IP.
During a recent Edge interview (as cited by GamesRadar ), studio Managing Director Hermen Hulst said it's "too early" to talk about the next Killzone entry, but we shouldn't read anything into that vague update:
"My enthusiasm for Horizon by no means should suggest that I'm now uninterested in Killzone. We love that franchise, we really do. But it's too early for me to comment on future projects. It's going to be a very big challenge for us to get [Horizon] out the door. And as for what's going to happen after that? We'll talk about that later."
Killzone: Shadow Fall , a PlayStation 4 launch title, was the last series entry Guerrilla released. But now they're working on the hugely anticipated PS4 exclusive, Horizon: Zero Dawn , and Hulst says it's the most most challenging project the team has ever tackled.
"After we shipped Killzone: Shadow Fall, and we'd been through the hoopla of doing a launch title, I thought that was going to be the toughest thing we'd ever do. It pales in comparison to this [Horizon]."
We're happy Guerrilla is trying something completely new, and we can't wait for the new IP. After that, if they want to return to Killzone , that's just fine.
Am I the only happy that it's not a first person shooter? Horizon doesn't catch my attention but if it plays anything like Shadow of Mordor then I am sure I'm going to love it.
I'm also glad it's not first person (because that perspective gives me migraines). Horizon looks beautiful. I'm glad they're not revealing the story, but can't wait to hear more about how it plays. If it plays half as well as it looks, they've got a winner!
I'd take third-person over first-person any day!
On that note, I'm playing through Assassin's Creed Unity right now, and I must say, this game is gorgeous!
Right!!! That game looks amazing.
Well hopefully they make Horizon great unlike every Killzone past KZ2 . I say forget KZ as it's a forgettable franchise as a whole. As for Horizon, I hope the story is central to driving the gameplay and world, not just a backdrop to "open world action". I don't need Far Cry/Assassin Creed in a robotic jungle warfare with pointless endless sidequest!!!
I use to really enjoy my KZ games especially the online games, which is saying a lot because i don't normally like playing to many online FPS,well apart from BF and of course KZ,but i felt really let down with the PS4 launch title of KZ,sorry to any KZ fanboys but that's just my opinion. 😉
