The next generation just got a little scarier, thanks to Atlus.
The publisher has announced Daylight , a psychological thriller built using the Unreal Engine 4. In development at Zombie Studios, the game is scheduled to release in early 2014 for the PlayStation 4 and PC in digital format. Yes, it's a console exclusive, Sony peeps.
According to the press release, "only the bravest souls will find all the messages and clues scattered through Daylight 's labyrinthine twists of derelict hospital corridors and other creepy environments." The levels are "procedurally generated," which means that no two play-throughs will be identical. The story was written by industry veteran Jessica Chobot, who also provides the terrified voice of the main character. Said studio director Jared Gerritzen:
"Since showing off a pre-alpha build of Daylight at PAX East the attention on the project has grown tremendously! With the gained attention, we were approached with the opportunity to partner with ATLUS to help release Daylight worldwide on Steam and exclusively to the PlayStation 4 system. ATLUS has a long history of great games and is an accomplished publisher with worldwide reach. Working with them will allow us to reach a global audience, so we'll be able to scare even more people."
Daylight will take advantage of the PS4's features, as players will be able to share gameplay online, and they can use the PlayStation Eye camera to snap pictures of the freakiest moments. The game will also support RealD 3D. To learn more, check out the official website .

Hey Ben, just out of curiosity, are you guys keeping track of the number of exclusive titles confirmed for the PS4? I'd be interested in seeing whether Sony will continue their trend of having the most exclusives going into the new generation.
I'm not really keeping track, but I can pretty much guarantee one thing- it'll be more than the Xbox One will have in the long run. 😉
Get use to this type of news because it is going to happen a lot now. The x86 is going to bring developers to the PS4 like a moth to flame. PC ports will be commonplace as well. The only problem I can see is that there may be to many games and not enough time or money to buy/play them all!!!!! What a great dilemma to be stricken with!
Something tells me the PS4/PC era is upon us…
…and the future of gaming looks brighter/better every passing day because of it, don't you think, max? 🙂
Atlus, Horror/Thriller, "zombie", PS4 exclusive? Shut up and take my money!
For a second there I thought this would be a zombie game because of the studio's name.
Love it, especially creepy hospital settings. It will be mine… oh yes, it will be mine.
And then I will seek out Ms. Chobot and show her a procedurally generated good time 🙂
High five to both of those comments, World. 🙂
Love the Asylum/hosptial kind of settings, eerie/creepy. I'm going to have to play this game in the dark with headphones on to enjoy the most experience possible.
saw a demo on IGN last night, looks suitably scary.
so good to have the survival horror genre back!
