Are you a VIP?

Developer Bungie has revealed the Destiny VIP rewards that will be available to players – if they qualify – when The Taken King expansion launches on September 15.

The new trailer offers a peek at the items you can earn, including a special armor shader, sparrow, and player emblem. To qualify, you need to either have reached Light Level 30 with at least one character, or you have to have purchased the first two expansions (The Dark Below and House of Wolves) by August 31, 2015. Then, if you've satisfied one of these criteria, you have to play The Taken King by February 1, 2016 to snag the rewards you've earned.

Another little tidbit: Bungie confirmed yesterday that the popular Gjallarhorn, the rocket launcher, will not be upgradeable in The Taken King. But some other weapons and armor will be.

Only 40 bucks, sounds like a deal to me. Where do I sign up?

Oy. What would a Destiny article be without haters and price moaners? It never ceases to amaze me how people who hate this game spend so much time perusing articles written about it. Fascinating.

In any event, I'm excited for TTK. I think it's a step in the right direction. Tons of new content. The VIP thing that everyone can get? Yeah – it's fine. I don't need something to mark me as a special snow flake. As for the Gjallarhorn, I'm happy the game is forcing us in to all new weapons and armor. Who doesn't want new and shiny, especially in a loot game?

I agree. As soon as a Destiny article goes up, the haters come out with one reason after another to as why I shouldn't be playing this game.

Like you, we are excited for all the weapon changes because frankly, seeing everyone run around with use the same weapon was disheartening.

Bring on The Taken King.

Looking forward to it, and not only do I qualify for the year one stuff I 'became legend' last night after defeating skolas and completing the games moments of triumph.
In terms of value I think it is worth it. I've purchased games at £60 that I've spent less time playing, and enjoying.
Can't wait!

Needless to say my sons and I qualify as Destiny VIP's, and yes, we do plan on buying The Taken King.
