Publisher 2K Games and developer Gearbox Software have announced the official release date for their upcoming MOBA-like FPS, Battleborn : It will land on PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC on February 9, 2016.

Additionally, we've learned that an open beta will be held prior to release, although we don't have any details at this time. Gearbox also revealed four brand new characters: Ambra, Melka, Reyna and Benedict; see the descriptions for each here .

Battleborn features 25 playable characters and the story can be tackled solo or with others via split-screen or online co-op. There's a competitive multiplayer mode as well, and the game has that patented Gearbox art style Borderlands fans know well. Lastly, check out the super cool "Can't Get Enough" Gamescom trailer:
