id Software Shooting For 1080p/60fps In Latest Doom Effort

As most will tell you, 1080p and 60 frames per second matter more depending on the genre.

For example, most want to see new first-person shooters hit those max benchmarks, so developer id Software is gonna try to make that happen in the upcoming Doom reboot.

Executive Producer Marty Stratton spoke to GameSpot about the team's graphical goals: They're going for high resolution and frame rate first, and then they'll focus on the graphical fidelity:

"We've always been at the forefront of saying we want our games to run as fast as possible at the highest resolution possible. So for us, that goal is 1080p and 60 FPS. Along with that goal, the mantra of our technology team is that we want to be the best-looking game out there at 60 FPS and 1080p. So you draw that line in the sand."

Stratton added that it "isn't just a lofty technical goal," because he thinks it's very important for the gameplay as well. "It's got to be fast, it's got to be fluid," he said, and he's not interested in sacrificing quality. For id Software, the feel of the adventure is absolutely paramount:

"If you do your best to give them a very consistent experience and a very high-quality experience, which for us is a fast, fluid 60 FPS, I think that's the most important thing. It's when you cut corners and you end up with a game that doesn't feel that good, and it's slow, and it's just a hodgepodge of a lack of focus throughout, that's when things start going awry. I think we'll hit all of our goals."

The new Doom is scheduled to release on PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC some time next year. As far as I'm concerned, it should end up being one of the funnest games of 2016.

Graphics are too intense for 60 fps I would say. But if they can pull it off them sweet!

End of line.

Thats good news for Doomers. I'd rather have those specs than even better graphics. We just have to avoid the massive pop in that RAGE had.
