On the one hand, you've got the option of a classic reboot; for the sake of argument, a reboot of a game you always loved.

On the other hand, you've got a brand new and hugely promising IP. Think Horizon: Zero Dawn or something like that.

The unveiling of these two very different types of products results in very different reactions. There are many who say reboots can only thrive on rampaging nostalgia; otherwise, nobody would have any interest in playing an amped-up version of an old game. Others say there were elements in the gameplay in certain old adventures that you simply can't find today, and getting revamped iterations of old-school classics can open the eyes of a younger generation.

Others will say that without new IPs, everything just stagnates and dies. The kind of enthusiasm generated by such titles is very fresh-feeling. Granted, we're talking about something unproven but at the same time, we've got untapped and perhaps limitless potential. So, as with many things, there are two schools of thought on this issue.

Where do you stand?

Depends. Not all sequels are uninvited. Some are fantastic and should be welcomed. Most IP's wear out their welcome, though.

If a new IP from top notch developers turned out like TLOU, though? Then I take a new IP like that every single time.

If it's Skies of Arcadia I'd rather have that.

It depends how old the game they want to reboot is. If it's only last gen then forget it but if they're rebooting something from say the PSone era then i am all for it.

A reboot of something like Fear Effect or Bushido Blade would be great.

The only reboot I would want over a new IP is a Knights of the Old Republic one.

Brand new FPS IP, reboot RPG.

I rather see a new IP from developers. Personally, remakes are useless unless you really need your favorite game to be upgraded. Younger generations could careless about older games that they have no prior history with, but a few might. I personally want to see new game. Like you said, I don't really want another Batman game or reboot from Rocksteady, just another great gaming series.

I vote for new IP.

Normally, I would say "Gimme a NEW IP!"

…but, if they can do a reboot/remake of an old classic with new tech/game engine, I'll be all over that.
Most notably, I would like:

–Metal Gear Solid 1/2/3 redone with a full 3D graphics engine where it's fully 3rd-person and the camera can move all around. (like how the newer MGS games are like)

–Resident Evil 1/2 redone will full 3rd-person movement and camera. (like Bloodborne)

Depends on the reboot, whether or not the same developer is involved, and who's behind the new IP and what it is. Way too many variables to make a blanket statement.

Rather see a new IP. Remastered games are welcome at a agreeable price. But they don't need to be given at the current rate they are at this point

Kind of unrealistic because the studios that made my favorite "classic" games no longer exist so god only knows what a reboot would be like. The way things are today, it'd probably be a Call of Duty knockoff with some character names from the old game. Hell is there even anyone in the industry today who's worked, in their entire career, on something other than a sequel, a shooter, or a sequel of a shooter?
