For a while, gamers were waiting on that one anticipated title that would offer countless hours of entertainment.

Many say it took a while for this generation to really get rolling (and some say it hasn't started rolling yet), but if you disagree, which is the game that pulled you fully and completely into the new generation? Which is the one title that you spent a ridiculous amount of time with and didn't regret a second of it?

Even though it's hardly the longest game out there, I think it might be the PlayStation 4 exclusive Bloodborne for a lot of people. It totally enveloped a great many (including several people I know, who just love it to pieces) and right now, they're already proclaiming it Game of the Year 2015. It's just one of those titles that isn't like any other game on the market, and its atmosphere and inherent challenge can really hook certain types of gamers.

I wonder if for others it's The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt . It's just so wildly massive and in some ways, wildly addicting. I certainly can't stop playing it, that's for sure, and it's the first game this generation that really "got" me. I doubt any upcoming production on the 2015 list has the same potential to keep me entranced for so long (although I guess Assassin's Creed Syndicate has an outside shot, as does Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain ).

So, which game is it for you?

Elder Scrolls Online. There's so much more content in this game than anything since Skyrim. Add the multiplayer dungeons and the game is just unbelievably big. I've dumped hours and hours into it already and I've only opened up 4 of the 17 playable areas on the map.

This is an mmo at heart but it's also The Elder Scrolls as you know it, should you decide to play solo. It doesn't force you into playing with others unless you want to take on the dungeons (mini raids).

There has been a few others but I can see ESO taking up the rest of the year.

That's really good to hear. I was avoiding purchasing it because the Beta was such a disaster.
I'm glad they fixed it and it's now a proper Elder Scrolls experience!

Yea I didn't participate in the beta, but I would argue this is the best running game Bethesda has been a part of on consoles. It has little hiccups as their games generally do, but I've yet to encounter anything like framerate drops killing the game, walking into water freezing the game etc… which were common in Fallout and TES last gen. In fact the worst thing that's happened to me is I got booted once. But because of their mega server getting back in was seamless.

I think it's in large part to them not handling the development haha. Probably more to do with the PS4. Seriously though, it's excellent.

Another one for the Witcher 3.
It's the only big game this generation that HASN'T been at least a little bit disappointing, despite the few bugs.

I guess Mortal Kombat was pretty good, but it doesn't have the narrative to keep me occupied long. I didn't bother with Bloodborne since I assumed it had next to no narrative elements, like the Dark Souls games.

I beat Arkham Knight yesterday, or at least the main story and the side missions that aren't just tedious.
I went to youtube for the 100% ending and the copy and pasted tank boss battle after the Arkham Knight is dealt with.

The Witcher 3 hands down. I still havent beat the game.I'm a completionist. 😉 Although as of last night I'm ready to go to the Tower of Mists. Everything else is completed. I wish there was a real game time clock that showed how much real life hrs. I've put in the game though. It's stupid that they're isn't.

I know there's a timer somewhere in the game. I remember finding it today.

I simply haven't had that game yet. Pretty much all my PS4 experiences I have just plaeyd through teh main story but not searched every nook and crany. However, next month (Gosh just so close now) Metal gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain will be that game… then I'll be on Metal Gear Online (3) too!

There was only one game that ever owned my life and it was WoW. Thank God I'm free from it now and no other game will "own" me or my life anymore.

The LoU Remastered is of course a great game, but, even though I waited to ps4 til play it, I would still count it as a superb last gen game.

Second Son had great graphics and gameplay, but, other than Fetch, all the characters were more annoying than likeable, especially the villain. For me this held it back from having nearly as good a story as the first 2 games.

FFXIVARR has been my go to game this gen. I am guessing but when I start playing The Witcher III it will probably take the top spot.

I think maybe when I start The Witcher 3, that will be the next game to take over my life. lol

I wouldn't say it owned my life, but I ended up playing a ton of Shadow of Mordor. Really ended up enjoying that game, although I was disappointed with the ending. The gameplay mechanics with the Captains and Warchiefs really ended up surpassing my expectations though and it was fun just to run around and control/kill them.

I was contemplating on buying that game. Should I?

I watched the trailer and the whole "picture" thing seemed corny and pointless to me.

Without a doubt Destiny. I put in more hours on that title then any game 2014-2015 combined.

It has been the one game that my sons and I played together almost all the time.

I am currently buried in Elder Scrolls Online and I am loving it so far. Problem is, I bought my kids copies and they didn't enjoy it so I am not sure if ESO will be another Destiny to me.

FFXIV:ARR and Destiny for me.

It came to a one point when I completely forgot how it felt to feel the sun on my skin. It was then that I took a break.

For a few hours at least.

I know it didn't get the best reviews, but the game that's consumed me from this generation so far has been Dying Light. It didn't exactly start out that appealing, but once I was a little into it, I became hooked. I have held out on Witcher 3 because I'm afraid I won't have enough time for it, but am finally giving in, and am getting it for my birthday in August. That will hold me over til Fallout 4 and Mad Max, though I fear Mad Max won't be as good as I hope it will be…

Destiny, easily.

It's an ever expanding game that focuses on team work and is just so fun, in my opinion. So much to do and so much to loot. I love it.

tbh the one title so that took most of my time on the ps4 was ACIV:black flag(i cant acutally remember how many hours cos i lost count but i know it was more than that of BF4 which was at 70-75 hours last i check so AC4 probably 100+ hours christmas 2013/14) and then BF4 after that i think more hours played but that might change if i get a big game like dragon age or batman or the witcher or some other such game as it is my birthdy today my time and i'm gunna try get one or 2 games for my birthday.

happy gaming
