Rory McIlroy PGA Tour Info: Courses, Pros, Release Plan

We're less than two weeks away from the latest Tiger Woo- …oops, sorry. I mean, Rory McIlroy PGA Tour . A new star rises!

EA Sports has delivered more information concerning the courses and players available at launch, and their future plans for the franchise.

First up, there will be 8 courses and unfortunately, that doesn't include Augusta National (home to the famous Masters tournament). The 8 courses are probably less than fans of the series expect but anyway, here they are:

No Pebble Beach or Torrey Pines, either. However, EA has constructed a few "fantasy" courses for you to tool around on, if that makes you feel any better. As for golfers, Operation Sports has confirmed the 12 professionals that you'll see alongside Rory:

EA does plan to offer more courses and players, and they may be included as part of free DLC. The other interesting factoid here is that EA is not planning to make this an annual release, which might be the reason there's no year in the title. They plan is to treat this as a new platform and simply add content over time, which also might explain the low amount of content at launch.

What do you think of this release strategy?

I like that idea, and wish more sports titles would adopt it. You don't need to make a new title every year. Just update rosters, and add new content with expansions for at least a few years. Many sports games are very similar year to year and I think they would benefit from a similar development cycle.
