Ben-DutkaIf you use the term "Metroidvania," many veteran gamers are going to pay attention.
A new, vibrant game called Red Goddess: Inner World launches on PlayStation 4 today, June 30, and it features a "mystical-fantasy storytelling in a universe filled with symbolism."
Yanim Studio Creative Director Yannick Puig gives us more details over at the PlayStation Blog : We get a "unique art style and immersive gameplay," where a young goddess named Divine must explore her inner mind to rediscover her powers. Exploring one's own subconscious can't be easy.
The developers say it's a non-linear map that emphasizes backtracking once you've earned new abilities. That's very "Metroidvania," wouldn't you say? It's also interesting that there are three playable characters because Divine is assisted by two alternate personalities, Rage and Fear.
It's a really cool concept and it looks great!

She looks a lot like a female version of the guy from Bastion. Like his sister or something.
