Although many assume the new PlayStation will hit some time next year, Sony says they continue to focus on their current console.
In speaking to CVG , SCEE CEO Jim Ryan cited a key theme of Sony's E3 press conference: New IPs, which of course could lead to franchises. Ryan added that such innovation is "indicative of a platform that's got a long way to go yet."
That much we definitely agree with . But perhaps even more interesting was Ryan's claim that currently, Sony's first-party teams are not "preoccupied with work on next-generation projects." That's a relatively difficult quote to interpret – are they not working on PS4 stuff at all? …only sparingly? – but we get the gist. The bottom line is that the PS3 has plenty left to offer and Sony knows it.
And by now, so should everyone else.
